1 x Sea Trout c. 3lb returned. Caught on a sunray in the Church Stream.
Lots of good sized Chubb around, 6 caught up to c.5lb & one small brown trout, 1/2lb all on the fly (sunray).

Really nice beat when combined with the Creel, enough fly water for a good days fishing. Wading is pretty easy throughout, although can be a little challenging getting in and out of the river, as the banks are steep. Good access for the most part, paths have been cut, although getting to Church Stream from the left bank was challenging.

Two fish showed, one in the Pulpit and one below Church Stream, looked to be Salmon ?

Certainly under-fished (Salmon) hence the returns don't do it justice. However, after 15th June the beats separate, then I would struggle to find enough fly water to justify a full day ticket.

River was on the up with plenty of colour. Managed just the one barbel before the heavens opened. Lost 2 good fish that came unhooked so felt a little unlucky. Main method was feeder and pellets. Fished the main swim half way down the left bank.

Nice beat, very peaceful and has lots of potential. The foy bridge fishery had better access than the creel fishery half, however both were overgrown. Water was fairly coloured and above summer level, I fished the fly down all pools as far as access and wading would allow, sadly without result. Several canoeists passed through mid morning all of which were plesent and curtious. I finished fishing mid afternoon due to large amounts of foliage in the water and decreased water clarity from rain upstream.
I look forward to fishing this beat again, hopefully with more success.

Too windy for fly. Canoe traffic quite heavy but folk quite friendly. Caught one Chub on a rapala at Lindor pool.

Nice beat it is a mix of fly and spinning water I stuck to fly for the day. Tail of bridge would be good in marginally higher water. Saw a salmon crash up at the surface at bottom of the boundary but not a touch. Kayakers were few and the 2 were polite and stealthy.

Nice to be back on a favourite beat and good to see that someone has been very busy improving the access in and out of the water. With a little less water, (0.65 at Ross gauge), it would have been possible to wade the right bank from the bridge all the way to the pipe some 200mtrs downstream. And then get out easily at the new steps, yahoo!
As it was the fly failed and the spinning rod captured the obligatory trout, although of good sizes at 2lb+, and chub. No salmon this time but not to worry as it’s not all about catching fish. Is it?

Sadly the promise of a rise in levels and high pressure came to nought. Also the accessible Fly water is currently reduced to just the Bridge Pool and the Pulpit/Island due to rapid growth of bank-side vegetation. The Run, the better holding area for Salmon at this level on the right bank, could not be fished by any method as I couldn’t find the usual access points down the steep banks; no doubt this will be cleared in time for the course season but I think this will be my last visit.
