Amazing, wonderful little river, full of character and life. Water was low due to dry summer but plenty of deep pools left holding fish. Tried several different dry flies on various beats but to no avail - sun was shining brightly in afternoon which didn't help but by early evening there was a good hatch of duns. Still nothing coming to surface so I changed to a gold bead Czech nymph - after several casts I had a lovely wild brownie on. Fish fought very strongly and when landed was 14"/ 1.25 pounds and swam away strongly when returned. Lovely way to end the day on a delightful river.

1 Trout

This was the first time we have visited the waters. We found them much as you described quite difficult to fish except from wading in the stream. We noted some activity but no interest. We fished Rossett Weir to the straight cut section in the morning and then from 1-4 on the Straight cut to Griffin road bridge Section B in the afternoon. We enjoyed the day but not sure whether our lack of success was due to our lack of expertise or lack of fish.

Understand the EPA's reluctance to clear the margins (pat-way). My waders were none the better got walking through brambles. Interesting meet with a few researchers looking at insect life on the river. Species are up and river healthy. Upper beats produced two grayling - biggest 11". best one took beaded PTN size 16.

2 Grayling

fished the upper section in Worm's Wood. Interesting section of river if a bit overgrown. Four small, out-of-season grayling. All caught deep on green shrimps and beaded, green squirmy nymphs. No sign of trout.

4 Grayling

River was coloured but fishable. Caught two small Grayling on a PTN. Had a very close encounter with a Mink. Really enjoyed fishing this beat and will return again. Found empty spinner packets on the river bank, may need to keep an eye out for poachers.

Had an hour well spent at the river. There was quite a bit of colour in the river. Fished the duo method with a size 18 klink with a size 14 goldhead PTN. Landed 3 lovely grayling up to 3/4lb and a trout of about 10". Maps were easy to use, access was great. A lovely beat, I will be visiting again!

Despite the good weather - low water - little or no hatch (few BWO). Missed hatch on arrival 1045. Nice pool beyond double bridge and took two rising trout on Adams K. Nice beat and maintained

No catches I'm afraid, only a couple of bites. Novice to river fishing but had an enjoyable morning. Tried out a few wet patterns + buzzers, upstream fishing.
