2 brown trout approx 1/2lb each, beautiful fish, one taken on a nymph and the other on a dry. Both fish caught by me, my friend didn't even get a bite, not that it was a competition, but I won!

Water was high, fast and red after Storm Francis so couldn't access most of the beat. No sign of any fish though the water cleared up as the day went on - I'm sure they were there. Also a small hatch of spinners around midday but nothing rising.

A great evening's fly fishing. A little slow to start with but fish taken both upstream and downstream of the aqueduct, a few around 1 1/2 lbs. As for technique, I used a floating line with a slow sink tip, fish were taken on beaded nymphs and wet flies.

Pleasant stretch of river but rather energetic to access a lot of it and sometimes even harder to get back out of the river!
Not much sign of rising fish most of the day, those that were invariably on the far side of the river in an inaccessible spot. Caught 2 small (10-12”) in last half hour when I was already late to get back for dinner. Fantastic bird life all day and so many insects it’s a wonder the fish weren’t on the surface all day.
The fishing hut that is mentioned in the booking info, a total joke I wouldn’t have gone inside to save my life it smelt like something died in there. No door, no window couldn’t see what was in the far end and didn’t fancy venturing in. No problem when your car is on the bank though, that is very civilised having such easy access to the bank.

Nice WBT of 20 inches or so on an olive CDC emerger and another of about 10 inches on an olive nymph. Had a couple of other fish on and lost so more productive than expected given the water conditions - the river was quite high and coloured. Nice day, though.

Overnight rain caused the river levels to rise and I was met with a raging brown torrent. No fishing possible and wading would have been foolish. Sadly too late in the season to claim a washoff . The level fell by nearly a foot by early afternoon, but it was clearly going to be a day or two before the river returned to a fishable state. Will be back for another try in the spring.

All caught before 10.30 am on long leader tight line nymphs. Best fish at 15" ( measured from tip of nose to fork of tail, not tip of tail fin)

Strong wind was a challenge, but we managed to secure some good fish throughout the beat, all safely returned. Only very sparse fly-life, and saw only a few rises - nothing could be tempted to a dry fly. Fish were caught using weighted nymphs.
