The Usk running at a nice level and quite warm most of the day, a cool breeze at times. Difficult day for us, we tried nymphs, spiders, streamers and dry. There were fish rising sporadically, but not regularly. The only fish landed was one I managed to tempt on the dry

Lovely day and not bad wading but you definitely need a wading stick for safety . Very slippery and fast in places.
A couple of good March Browns hatches but saw few rising.
Caught on Pete Buckey’s Bushy March Browns fly from Fulling Mill . Absolutely fab in the fast streamy water and the fish exploded onto it. Caught 3 and left after 2 pm so not too bad. Saw a couple of big fish in the slack water but too far out for me to wade /reach without drag.

A small administrative error - angler in Rugby, wallet in Norwich - meant I was late on the water and any hatch there might have been was over. It was cold and blustery, the river high-ish but clear and pushing through. I managed one small fish on a nymph.

Quiet until about 1200 when the hatch started. A good hatch of March Browns with a few LDO evident.
One good trout to a heavy nymph and the rest on MB Emerger. All done by 1500.
