First day of the season! 8C max temp. Hard to tell when the mist ended and the drizzle began. No wind. River a little high and fast but running clear. A couple of hours speculating with a PTN but action started around 13:00 and lasted for an hour. Olives and tiny white beasties (not sure correct name) hatching in the slower water of Llanoberry Pool. Fish rising all over the place! Three to the net on size 18 Grey Duster; dropped a few more and missed several takes. Need a couple more trips to get my eye in. All fish in excellent condition for so early in the season.

The river was in flood and very coloured. It was not fishable for fly fishing. Such a pity as this was our last chance to fish before the end of the season.

River slightly high and coloured when we arrived, say a couple of fish early on but not takers. Heavy rain all morning and river level increased quickly, by lunchtime it was in full spate and not fishable. That’s it for this year, roll on March. Thanks to Foundation for support all year.

River very low and clear trout taken on nymph fished clink and dink style at the very top of the beat. Two salmon parr also caught.
Encountered a family in an inflatable canoe who I think were genuinely unaware of the arrangements for river sharing so had a friendly chat and advised them of the situation.
Lovely beat with great access to the river.

River still low despite 2 damp days preceeding. A cloudy day with showers passing through on a downstream wind. Some fish hitting caddis in the streamy runs on arrival and managed a couple on a dry sedge and missed 3 more slashing rises including a substantial fish before the activity petered out from early afternoon.
