Three trout caught in total, all released - 0.75lb, caught on a grey Parachute Emerger, to Anthony Lavers; and 0.75lb and 2lb, both on a CDC Emerger, to Ben Tyser.
The weather was much warmer than the previous day at Ashford House, and that perhaps explained the much more persistent hatch (March browns and Large Dark Olives again). It lasted from about 1 o'clock to 4 o'clock at least. We had trouble keeping our fish on - we lost a further three, and missed another two...!
A lovely beat - really enjoyed exploring it.

Cloudy with sunny periods. River low and clear. No success with nymphs early on, but several hatches after 1pm (some March Browns, lots of olives), and 5 trout caught and returned on dries, two good fish.

Breezy day with showers and cloud but sun in between. Weak hatch (Dark Olive) in early afternoon. Tried all methods but fish seemed deep. Only saw 1 rise all day. Picked up best fish of about 1lb from lower pool on copper John fished deep. Beat not as good now, the Dinas part is no longer included. OK for 1 angler but no more.

Arrived in dry at 0930 with temp 9C and very light SE breeze. By 0950 drizzle started turning to very heavy rain for half an hour. When we left at 1600 temp 16C. River flowing fast, a little high and a bit murky. Saw less than half dozen fly (March browns?). Saw no fish at all. Tried various nymphs and a March Brown.

As usual the trout had a crazy twenty minutes around lunchtime but I could not get to grip with my fly choice. Most enjoyable day and thank you to the owner for rescuing me from the mud.

Beautiful stretch of river, but high and rising water levels and a cold wind made fishing a bit of a chore. No fish seen and no takes. Shame as fished here last June and had lots of very decent fish on dry and wet flies.

Lovely day, fish active around midday. 2 caught, 3 lost (one of which was a good fish and snapped the 4lb tippet).

A blank, althuogh a couple of chances missed and one or two fish rising. Low clear water, cold with a gusty downstream wind. Some LDOs and March browns in short sporadic hatches in the middle of the day but the fish dont seem to have switched on to them. Dry fly produced the chances - nothing seemed to want to touch a nymph. Lovely beat. Worth crossing the river and fishing the left bank on the lower section.
