11 landed and another 8 missed chances. Consistent trickle of March Browns from 10am-4pm, the most prolific hatch being at about 1100.
Not much surface activity but the fish still rose freely to the dry fly in the faster riffles especially.
The biggest two were battle scarred old brutes and with very worn fins akin to a stocked fish - not expected in an Usk Brown, usually fin perfect.

River fairly low but running clear and looked in excellent condition. Caught a couple of lovely trout trout in the morning but the afternoon was quiet after a good hatch and rise around lunchtime.

Couldn’t have asked for a more perfect early Spring day. Having worked my way up from the bridge I was lucky enough to arrive at the riffly pool half way up the best just when the hatch started. By the time it ended - not much more than forty five minutes later I’d somehow managed to catch six (and dropped two more). All on a jingler. My remaining fish came on a nymph. A beautiful day.

Water considerably warmer than it was earlier in the week, although a lot less fly life with a stiff upstream wind. Fished nymphs under an indicator majority of the day with some good success. All 5 fish caught on a Howard Croston pattern. Took the dry fly rod for a walk but no rising fish seen.

I could almost cut and paste yesterday’s report. River a little high (11” on Brecon gauge) but gin clear. Bright and sunny all day with breeze from west later. Fished 11:00 to 15:00. No sign of any hatch or fish showing. Fished nymphs in the crease of the runs at the top of the beat and then dropped down to the deeper water downstream. Not a touch all day. Needs to warm up a little!
