One hen salmon caught on Dol-Meudwy in the rain at about 2pm. A hen fish, good condition though dark, measuring approx 27 inches long, say 10-12 pounds.
The river was high and coloured but not muddy.

A lovely day on this beat, which I haven't fished before. Bright sunshine and low river made fishing difficult, but still a few fish about. Trout all on the small side, but grayling were better. The best dace was 1/2 lb! I saw some large chub cruising around. Comparaduns to rising fish, otherwise emergers, kinks and nymphs (16, 18s).

6 Trout, 7 Grayling, 2 Other

The river had a dead feel to it, and I never really got going ; switching between dry and nymph (conventional, NZ and Euro style), with each method equally successful (or should that be unsuccessful?). Two heart stopping moments provided by a couple of decent sized Chub, one on a nymph, one on a dry. I have nothing against Chub, and spent a lot of my youth trying to catch them, but not what I got out of a warm bed at 05:30 this morning for

1 Trout, 3 Grayling, 2 Chub
