No fish caught . Hooked two fish in the Chapel Pool but both dropped the fly. Gave up in disgust as every cast hooked a leaf. The water height and colour was perfect, but very gusty winds and the dreaded leaves caused me to call it a day for this year.
Merry Christmas to all

Taking a guest out for the day it was more of a casting lesson than properly fishing, although conditions were perfect. After getting him going I followed him down... 10 minutes in, he looks stressed, playing with his set-up, I wade out and walk down to find two gigantic birds nests in the line! Accidentally turning the drag right down and casting - I'm sure you get the picture. Too tangled to carry on, we shared a rod for another couple of hours. Saw a fish roll in the Orchard.

No fish to report but a good day nonetheless. Night stopped in the Castle Hotel in Talgarth, very reasonable.
Thanks WUF.

My guest Simon Toms caught a 11lb coloured fish from the Chapel Catch on his first trip to the upper Wye. One happy man.
I on the other hand got chased by cows and fell down the the bank giving me a rather impressive bruise!

River 1' 8" on the Llanstephan gauge with a little colour. Started fishing at 1pm in quite pleasant weather apart from a gusty downstream wind.
Grayling to 14" with most about 8" (and 3 shotts). Best trout 12" and one salmon parr. Team of three flies: beadhead GRHE on the point, snipe and purple and Hancock' pet on droppers. Most fish took the S&P. River rose noticeably at about 4pm at which point I called it a day.

3 Trout, 22 Grayling, 1 Other
