River at 1’1” and clearing slowly. Some luck after a fashion today with a take from a known lie in the bottom of the beat early afternoon. Strangely, very little fight but what I thought was probably a chub turned out to be a small, very coloured cock salmon that had probably been in the system for some time.
A bit skinny but with no sign of any fungal infection.
Played hard, not netted, and swiftly released “Oykel Style”. Guesstimate 6-7lb.
Fished most of the beat with nothing else seen before finishing in heavy rain at 5.00pm.
From the Chapel Catch.
Silver Stoat dressed on 1/2” copper.

About 1'2" on the Llanstephan gauge, overcast, moderate upstream breeze. Very little fly life and no fish seen rising all day; but I did see a salmon in the gutters above Llangoed pool as I ate a late lunch. I tried dries at various points throughout the day, but nothing doing. All fish were taken using heavy nymphs fished down and across in the rapids below Llangoed pool or between Dol-meudwy and the orchard catch. Both trout were about 5", the grayling were all 7-8" bar one which was about 13". Holding nymphs downstream resulted in a huge number of little knocks and pulls with perhaps a dozen leading to 3 seconds of shaking before the hook pinged out. I'm pretty certain they were all grayling.

Fished most of the beat with a salmon fly.
Height dropped quickly but colour wasn’t too bad after the lift yesterday. No salmon seen.
