Area:Upper Wye

Beat:Llangoed & Lower Llanstephan

Fishing:All Species (in season)

Fished nymphs through the Rectory or inniswye most trout caught in the Millstream area and the Rectory pot. Fished size 14 ptn and grhe. No action on the dries. 12 fish up to 1.5 lbs with interesting variations in spots photographed. This is a wonderful beat and three hours fishing the head and then the tail of one pool served as a tantilising introduction to its amazing potential to hold top quality specimen fish. I am delighted to have the chance to fish it during the WUF conference. Incidentally the conference was brilliant and a testament to a strong team of individuals who have suceeded in implementing a comprehensive restoration program for the Wye and Usk which will yield benefits to society for generations to come

Fished the bottom part of the beat and river looked in good condition although perhaps needing some rain. Saw just a couple of rises but was unable to find any fish with dry flies or in the pocket waters in the rapids searched with nymphs. Whilst standing in the shallows, a pike of perhaps 4 or 5lb cruised right up to me before making eye contact and rolling with a splash away. The setting for the beat is spectacular and I watched a red kite circling overhead as compensation for the lack of a catch.

Bright sunny day. No surface activity, no real hatch. Fished nymphs. 7 trout between 8-12 inches and one grayling. As usual the big one got away! Only fished the rapids at the bottom of the beat.

A lovely day but not for fishing - the river was low and we saw very little on either the lower or upper section. Hooked two out of season Grayling and two small brownies between us. Lovely beat though.

1'9" clear- looking great. Grannom hatch 11am trout everywhere--Tim had some on his trout gear. 1 salmon showed in Llangoed pool soon after the fly went over him, but wouldn't look at anything else. We both tried hard - but failed, nevertheless a beautiful day on the Wye.

A disappointing day really... there was a very brief hatch of olives about midday and some trout appeared, but after 5 minutes it was over for the rest of the day. Roll on Spring..!

Fishing flies deep off the shelf, but no takes. Still beautiful stretch of water. Bravo on your brilliant web site and booking system.

A lovely afternoon for fishing, with sun and temperatures reaching 14c albeit with a chilly wind. I have yet to see a single fish of any kind this season, although I did catch a yearling salmon!! All seems still a bit wintery for much life. A few olive duns were seen but very few birds even.

Nice height and a very warm day for mid March. Sunny all day so probably not the best conditions. Fished the fly through the upper pools but nothing doing. Moved down to bottom end and fished through with flying c but still nothing doing.
