This was a very disappointing day, started early, VERY difficult getting in the river, and worse trying to get out, you have to be ex SAS or brave or stupid, water level low, very hot midday, this is a lovely stretch of river, with many pools, with TLC this would be a great little river,I still managed 1 fish, PTN

A lovely small river, short rods required 8ft or less. Lots of mayfly showing and a few better fish seen rising but very spooky. A couple of small ones caught.

In 2021 the usual 4 or 5 visits to WUF beats reduced to a mostly washed off trip in May. So, was very pleased to take advantage of a short holiday break in Pembrokeshire to spend half a day on The Cleddau. The Bont is a nice beat reminding me of Upper Wye wild streams although I think it is more focused to Sewin and Salmon fishermen. Anyway, nice to get the 3WT wet and three stream WBT to hand (plenty more risen).

A beautiful natural stretch of river. I fished from 11:00 until an hour after sunset. The water level was quite low (0.75m at Canaston gauging station). The water was clear and 15 degrees Celsius. The air temperature was 20 degrees and it was a bright day.

Fly only, but casting a challenge in places due to the trees. I caught one small brown trout on a #14 barbless Diawl Bach. It was returned. It was a very pleasant day despite only catching one fish. I saw a kingfisher and an impressive number of bats just after sunset.

I will fish The Bont again.

I had a very enjoyable afternoon on the Cleddau Ddu. I didn't know the river before I fished it but I would guess it was low. It was a decent day, about eighteen degrees, a little breezy, and sun and cloud. I fished upstream from below the road bridge and picked off small wild brownies all the way up. I was fishing a klink and dink setup. Size #14 klinkhammer and #18 black and pink red-ribbed nymphs. All but two of the thirteen went for the nymph. I lost five or so more. Fish were pretty much where you'd expect them to be. All were small, averaging about 6".

I'd love to fish it when the level was a bit higher but I still had a good day.

The beat was a tricky one to wade, definitley chest waders required for getting through the deeper stretches. Caught all fish on Caddis fly the only one that interested the very lively trout. Lost a few when they went airborne and threw the hook. Bridge pool gave the most takes today.
Most enjoyable day.

Had no option in terms of what time I could fish - went first thing for a couple of hours, thereby managing to fish in the rain. Quite a rarity in the summer of 2018! Had a few rises to a rusty klinkhammer - just the one stuck, the attractively marked 11" pictured. Bent the 3wt nicely; shame I couldn't spend longer there. Perhaps another trip in search of sewin when the water level changes!

Unseasonably cold conditions. I knew the feeding window would be short so fished from 12-2pm. Hooked and lost two fish to GRHE. Nice to be out! And the river was lovely
