One Big fish showing in upper hut catch, it looked to be in the upper twenties and quite coloured, I hooked into it after 45 minutes of casting but it was only on for a few seconds. I was using a red and yellow single hook flying c . no other fish were seen

Found a couple of hours window before early afternoon when the wind really got up, which completely killed it. First time the river has been low enough (~1m) to fish on the home patch. Colour going. Went down hoping to find Mr G coming off and, in spite of relatively little and thin sunshine, there were enough Grannom to get fish taking emerging pupae for a while. No LDOs or MBs today. All fish taken on a couple of Grannom emergers and Louis Noble's Grannom spider. Grannom should be around now from Wednesday on both rivers, given the forecast sunshine........at last!

Water rose a little so chose to spin. Nothing caught but very impressed with pools and access. Will return in search of that large Wye springer.

River 0.48m on the Bredwardine guage and dropping, and a nice tea colour after the rain earlier in the week. Great to be out again having not fished a river for the last week and so grabbed a few hours in the morning on the local beat before the wind really got up later in the afternoon. Fish rising on arrival at 9 a.m. and the odd one still doing so when I had to leave at 1 p.m. In spite of olives, YMs, the odd OU, sedges, midge, gnat and a few Danica providing a diverse potential bill of fare, fish appeared primarily to be taking the olives, as all fish were taken on a size 16 Universal Baetis Ducks Dun( see Gwent AS website if interested in tying details). OU, YM and mayfly patterns passed unmolested! Judging by WUF's catch returns, and reports from GAS on the Usk, the rivers at last seem to have woken up, now that the cold easterlies that plagued us for much of the last month seem to have gone. Fish ranged from 10, 12, 14 to 16" with two of the latter +/- 1.75lb.
