Travelling from Bracknell and the river rising to 1.51m before travelling I wasnt massively confident and the river was quick and looked like hard day ahead. I met Monty straight away and his guidance and tips managed barbel up to 6lb and chub up to 5lb. Another great day and will be back soon. Thank you Monty for your help as always.

Two days of torrential rain, eventually a decent dry day. River was up another few feet so the top end fasted water was unfishable. Looked perfect for the lower swims, but I struggled all day. Had an early barbel (9lb 2oz) and then continued getting small taps all day. Largest chub was a very nice fish at 5lb 12oz.
Barbel on pellet, chub on a mixture of pellet and luncheon meat.
Nice to meet Monty. Lots of very well kept swims to choose from.

Met Monty on arrival, a very informative and friendly man who gave me a welcome detailed review of the beat. Fished the afternoon into early evening using pellet and meat, managed one eel early on followed later in the afternoon with some reasonable sized Chub and Quite few Chublets.

Overcast day, river quite low and slightly coloured. Trotting the faster water produced most of the fish, very nice to get 5 barbel on the float, trotting pellets. Only a few fish on the feeder. The otter was very busy up and down the Elms, and surprisingly noisy, never heard them make such a loud screeching noise, obviously not happy with me. Great day, thanks WUF and the owner.

Arrived at 2pm for an evening session. Weather was not so nice. Rain and wind hindered fishing until 5pm when it settled down a bit. I found somewhere sheltered but didn’t have a bite. Tried above the stile and had one chub. Was not looking good. Never say die so I moved again and found a lovely glide with a dark channel. Trotted meat all evening and had a fabulous time catching lots of chub mostly 2-3lb. Biggest nudged 5lb and caught an immaculate 6lb barbel. Very quiet. Nice beat. M50 east bound shut made journey home a pain. Lovely evenings fishing

Great to be greeted by Monty on arrival...a man who obviously loves this beat & knows it inside out; His advice & knowledge was useful when I had not fished this stretch of the Wye before. The barbel was a PB for me & my first double figure barbel. Static baits were the order of the day for me with no interest shown in trotted baits. The other was an eel....they always make life difficult when trying to quickly unhook them & I wish I knew the secret. In the old days they used to say 'wrap them in newspaper' & that quietens them down. Unfortunately I had not finished the crossword so refrained from that technique, still, using a surgical pair of forceps as the fish did a 360 was a good second best.
Thanks WUF & Monty.

A wonderful day on an amazing beat - this is the best kept stretch of river wye that I have ever fished on - well managed swims that are very accessible.
