River had dropped about 3m from the height of the flood, but was still at or above platform level on this well-kept beat. I decided to give it a go anyway as this was the last day of fishing here this year. I think cold flood water for days on end had put the barbel off, but a pleasant day by the river just the same. Chub about two and a half pounds. The "other" was a dace.

Only fished for an hour, in horrendous weather with a rapidly rising and rusty red coloured river.
Not a nibble. Too bad, as I really like this beat and had been looking forward to fishing it all week.

Started out at around midday with light rain. Nearing Ross-on-Wye the sky turned so black. The rain was unrelenting and torrential. Was not looking nice at all. I tackled the track in the rain in my 4x4 which was a little tricky with all the water around but my car continued on. The river was now chocolate and rising fast. I fished for about an hour but the banks were so treacherous and a fast rising river bringing trees down the flow made me see sense and get out of there in case I did become stuck on way out. A hot bath beckoned. Sad on the way back that I witnessed a terrible accident on junction 2 of the M50. All in all a day to forget. Looking forward to my next visit on the Wye in more welcoming conditions.
