The fishing was slow again today like yesterday on Fownhope 5, but we used yesterday’s experience to good effect and kept moving until we found the fish. Most fish caught at the fishing hut and the last swim on down stream on the beat.
Pellet in mixed sizes fished with a feeder most productive method , whilst trotting with bread flake brought some good Dace.

A very wet cold rainy day after a hot weather period. Fished 2 swims, from almost the top of the fishery (quicker water) to near the bottom (steady flow) on a barbel quest. Water conditions seemed ideal. Just 3 Chub to about 3lbs.
Plenty of swims available via steps access.

A warm, sultry muggy day. Very clear water, but reasonable flow for late summer.
Just a short 3hr session, fishing for Chub with cheese. Despite moving from steady water to quicker water, the Chub showed no interest.
However, unusually in my experience fishing cheese, a Barbel (small - 3lb) did.
Access as described... high banks for the most part, but steps down with handrails provide sufficient options for the rods permitted.

Very hot afternoon. Arrived 1pm. Great access. Had a nice stroll down river and was pleasantly surprised to meet up with fellow angler I had met at the creel last autumn. Had good chat. I fished balsa float all day. Based myself on the hut steps but roved around up and down stream all evening. Superb pegs. Caught two clonking barbel on trotted pellet and lost one. Had a big fat chub around 5lb too. Would love to come back here in September with a bit water on and colour but fully booked. Will have to wait till my October booking. What a fabulous evening in serene surroundings and weather. Thanks to WUF and of course Monty who I just missed out on meeting.

After a most enjoyable day's fishing here as of last Friday, today's session, on a river now fining down (level at Mordiford - 0.90m high @ 6:00am 23.08.19) was hard going. Weather was overcast to begin with, with the sun coming out strong circa 9:00am.
Following advice from Monty on swim selections, moved to the bottom end peg for a try. Subsequently, a fair call.
On a day like this, my one dimensional swimfeeder fishing approach limited my options. In the last swim I fished, the last peg above the bottom end rapids, fish showed and I caught a few, but consequently lost 6 swimfeeders and countless number of hooks to the rocks and crevices on the river bed. A trotted heavy balsa float approach may have been the better answer.
Caught 1nr barbel (circa 6lb) and 5nr chub (circa 3lb - 4lb); lost 2nr fish to hook pulls; fished a 2oz / 3oz / 4oz pellet and hemp filled groundbait swimfeeder with 15mm boilies / 2 x 8mm pellets on the hook. Fished a 7hrs session.
Nice to be joined later on in the session by Alcester Steve, a person I'd successfully fished with before from the Fishing Passport. Great stretch, will be back again.

Tight lines all.
