River running faster and darker due to heavier rain overnight - no fish taken during the day.

River steady despite recent rain. Two takes (hooked fished but not landed unfortunately - second seems quite sizeable).

After being washed-off the previous day the river had dropped more than a foot overnight and had cleared, though still carried some colour. Caught two brown trout in the first hour, one of 12" the other 16", both on spiders. Thought I was in for a really good day but took nothing else, despite a few knocks and pulls.

River in good condition (the next day was a wash off). Trout taken on down and across nymphs. All 3 about 7-8"

Beautiful day on this lovely beat introducing my 10 year old son to river fly fishing.Lovely welcome from the owner at Penpont who showed us where to park and how to access the river. Lots and lots of moving fish but couldn't find the dry to tempt them - we literally were casting onto their heads at times. Switched to a single size 16 hare's ear on an indicator and got some takes. My son hooked and lost a very good fish using this method. Tough beat but a lovely day followed by dinner at The Griffin at Felin Fach which more than made up for our blank!

6 on small olive emergers between us. Nothing over about a pound.
