3 caught on nymphs in bright conditions from faster water, ideal conditions for spotting fish (we saw many) but more difficult for catching them in the flats. We had to head home in the afternoon so likely missed what promised to be a productive evening. It’s a fantastic beat and we look forward to fishing it again on the next trip.

On a blue skied, gloriously warm day this is the most gorgeous spot. Plenty of good fish showing, mostly nymphing, and water a perfect height but... it is the Usk: these fish are very shy and in clear water you get only one shot! With just enough of a downstream breeze this made a long leader and dry fly very tricky indeed.
I euro-nymphed the broken water to save my blank!!
I also endorse the Felt / Stud boots requirement, despite modern rubber and a wading stick. It is very slippy.

Quite a steady hatch of olive uprights and yellow mays trickling off through the day buy the fish don’t seem to have switched onto them properly. Did manage a couple on dries but the majority came to nymphs on the french leader.
Actually lost count of fish....around 15+

Usk was still high from the recent deluge making the upper half of the beat unfishable. The lower half however did give up 2 hard-fighting wbt at 10" and 12". Taken on a weighted Czech nymph and returned safely.
