3 nice fish, 2 at 14", 1 at 17" fishing weighted spiders across the streamy runs - well worth the drive! The "smaller" fish were fairly lean. I caught them between 11am and 1. There was a hatch of olives which started at about 1, after which I caught nothing! No surface activity and no march browns. River was in good order but there was a gusty downstream wind most of the day. Wading staff and polaroids (to see the bottom) were important to me.

After such a wet, dark, even desolate winter it was a delight to be out fishing such a wonderful water on what was a perfect early spring day. Perhaps too perfect for fishing without a cloud in the sky, but frankly I didn't care.
This is a beat of great character, super pools and runs, interesting fishy spots throughout. There was a reasonably steady hatch of March Olives from around 11.15am until 3.00pm but the fish didn't turn on to them. A great deal of promise though for when things warm up.
Excellent beat notes and directions were provided. Those warnings re taking along your chest waders should be heeded. I found my wading staff a comfort too.
Many thanks to the Foundation and owners for making this available.

Very awkward access and difficult wading spoilt this otherwise good day. Fished from 11.30am to 3pm.
Three WBT caugt on nymph's with one fish of exceptional size estimated at 5lb plus.

A hot sunny day. A lovely venue but with difficult casting and crystal clear water it was hard going. Concentrated on the upper half and had several pulls and lost one fish to nymphs but no catch today. Good fun trying though.

5 fish caught between JD and JE all between 10 and 18". Two large WBT (16 and 18) fell to klinkhammer dry as they finned around shallow pools for fry. Generally not much hatching although big fish were rising throughout beat particularly towards dusk.

Low flow and warm water didn't help the fishing, but a beautiful stretch of the Usk.

Very windy day. Water low, cristal clear. Hardly any fish risen all day. Caught a tiny WBT on pheasant nymp and a better one lost. C&R. Spotted 2 massive trouts /3-4 lbs/ at the upper end of the beat in a deep pool. Booking easy, lady was very helpful on the phone.

The day started slowly, mainly due to the crystal clear water and bright sunshine. Fished for the 1st 2 hrs with very little success. Fish were easily spooked and difficult to get near.
Shortly after mid day the cloud cover increased and the fish started showing intrest in my copper head #16 bug, fished french nymph style on about 4ft of v fine tippet. The next hour produced 3 wbt, 2 x 1 1/4lb and a really plump 15" fish not far off 2lb (all fish returned safely). Left shortly after 2pm
