Low water, far too bright (it was a lovely day, weather wise) and not the easiest conditions on the bank made for a shorter days session, drawing a blank.

We spent enjoyable day fishing this lovely stretch of river Lugg despite having to take occasional breaks during heavy and thundery showers. There are plenty of swims along the bank although some promising looking ones would require a short rod to fish between the overhanging branches. The only negative thing was that you have to climb over the wooden fence to enter the fishery which can be challenging for some. You can't park your car in the field, which was marked as 'dry car park' and I dont believe this due to the weather conditions but rather because there was a pack of lovely cows present in the field adjecent to the river. But you can park by the farm which is just a short walk away.
We were link ledgering with meat/maggots and trotting a stick float the other road. Both methods worked really well resulting in a good number of chub (the biggest around a pound) and dace being caught between the two of us. The session ended with a surprise catch of a brown trout on trotted maggots.

The other fish caught were Dace Please note the parking instructions for dry weather say park in the field at the right of the entrance. This is not possible now as the gate has wire stretched across it All fish were caught on float tackle.
The river was in very good condition as were the fish

Interesting little water -few accessible swims and high coloured water but saw some nice chub - all declined my freelined luncheon meat . Will be back when the water has dropped and cleared, with breadflake on float. Nice few hours away from work.

Nice little stalking river, terrible windy conditions played havoc but persisted for a chub around 2lb.

A very quiet & peaceful place to fish. All fish were caught on pellet or meat from the bottom swim, could not get a bite in any other swim, did not see any fish rising anywhere . Quite a few places to access the water looks like new swims have been created. Met John the owner who seeamed like a very nice chap. Was surprised when another angler arrived in the afternoon as I was the only one booked on this beat, not sure who to contact on a Sunday. This is a very nice beat if you like fishing small rivers, you have to climb over a gate then an electric fence to access fishery & the top field is quite rough with long grass cows were inquisitive but not a problem, short walk from parking area, no canoes on this river, all in all a good day will come back for another go when hopefully there might be some Barbel about.

Arrived late morning and found the river to be relatively low and a bit coloured. A very nice stretch and very quiet. I met John the owner, who was very helpful and keen to make sure I had a good day.
I trotted some bread flake through some very good looking swims, had some bites but landed nothing. Used a method feeder later in the day but no success.
The stretch is very nice and no doubt holds some fish, I wouldn’t like to share it with anyone else I didn’t know. I left before dusk unfortunately and probably missed the best chance to catch as it was bright and sunny all afternoon. Some cattle in the field and no canoeists.
I would like to return at some point. Perhaps a combination lock on the gate would allow anglers easy access and not inconvenience the owner.

A blank, but with the river as high as it was that's no surprise! Lovely looking beat, needs a bit of clearing still, but great potential. Lower end looks good for pike, barbel and chub further up. Nice beat for 1 or 2 guys, you can easily bait up swims at each end then fish back and forth. Quite technical fishing trying to get in under the overhanging branches in some places, but looks worth it! Really easy access, and nice to know there wont be anyone fishing opposite.
