Not a good day. The river rose 6" during late morning and early afternoon, chances being almost zero in my book. The lunchtime Rectory catches would suggest otherwise, but the beat is downstream and perhaps the water had not reached there.
I was a little frustrated that it was not classed as a wash off. Another frustration is the condition of infrastructure on the beat. All the wading boards are in a serious state of disrepair, I could not get on the upper boards at all.
One day someone will get hurt.
However, I think the real problem is that I am not catching fish and S.E. is....

River was high and dropping however it was quite dirty.
Salmon seen but none interested in my selection of flies, except for a large brown trout, which I returned.

Total blank I'm afraid but did get one pull but suspect that may have been trout. Marginally better than looking at the cocoa rushing by around the Ross area.

No fish at all didn't see one.
I believe you must help numbers by breeding salmonoids
It's working very successfully in Canada.

Conditions were spot on water was a good height and overcast until 3:30pm. Saw two salmon (running fish) and had a good pull which took line from the reel but never connected (from the bathing pool). Such lovely fly water and a lovely beat. Will be back again.

Great day, saw a few salmon but could not connect to one.
Had a couple of grayling and trout on the dry fly during a good hatch all returned.
Definitely will try again
