A few small trout caught, all returned. Best 8oz. Idyllic setting but very bright and hot for fishing and called away early pm. An enchanting scene, but not too fishy today. Who cares?

Great beat. Very very cold, wet and windy - the weather did not do too much for the fishing. Still caught two trout and two grayling).

First time for me on the beat and its a big piece of river, took some time to find my way around. Very cold, felt more like March, warmed up a bit in the afternoon. Fishing risng spradically but nothing consistent. Some olives around midday, yellow may duns in the afternoon and evening. Caught 6 on the day none bigger than 8 inches, 50/50 dries and nymphs.

24 fish caught, mostly trout and the odd grayling, from 3" to about 1 1/4 lb. Caught on a variety of olive patterns and black emergers, with fish caught on or near the top. Best fly size 14 olive 'F' fly. Fish rising on and off all day, temperature cold, no real hatch, best action early to mid afternoon. We all found the wading very tricky. No fish taken.

First day out this year. Weather was alternatively warm and cold so fish and fly life were both totally confused. Sporadic hatch of large and medium olives. 24 fish between us - 23 trout to 13" and one out of season hen grayling of 14". All on dries - our usual para ginger quills. A great start to the season but the river desperately needs some rain.

Fishing was on a cold day. River water dirty but fishable.
Lots of sedge coming off the water throughout the day. Fish didnt seem to be feeding on them. One small brown and 2 salmon parr on bead head nymphs and adams dry.

March Browns coming off water at 3pm when fish turned on for about 25 minutes. 4 browns, 2 of which were a 2.5lb hen and a 1.5 lb cock fish. Best fish I have taken in river.
Great result after a slow start!!

Thanks. Catch return: 1 rather surprised brown trout. There was a nice hatch of May fly and the trout were rising, but not to my flies! The South African chap on the beat landed a couple of very nice brown trout.

Lovely day but obviously I am a bit rusty.

Grannom in clouds kept up most of day. Lots of small fish and 1 large grayling all on floating grey duster. Hooked several more solid fish but all got off. There were just a few larger sedges hatching later. River is now getting low.
