A good variety of sized fish with the biggest at a fat 17". All fish were caught using upstream tight line nymphs.

River and weather conditions looked perfect but turned out to be a hard day's fishing! Just one brown trout caught and returned, about 8 inches in length. Taken on a gold head pheasant tail fished across and down

Lovely sunny weather all day, so a lot of mayflies in the air. Got the browntrout (38cm/1,4 kg) on a converted newzealand-style combination (tied together) of attracter fly and nymph.

1st time fishing the Usk - Glan-yr-Afon.
River had a good level of water. Very bright and sunny?
One or two small fish rising but no takers. A few mayfly around and a lot of caddis in the afternoon. Tried nymphing to no avail. Tried some parachute adams amongst many others to no avail. All in all a beautiful stretch but I found it really difficult in sunny conditions. Need to work on my rivercraft. Great weekend though and will be back to the Usk to conquer! Stayed at the Old Rectory Hotel 4m away which was very nice and can highly recommend.

An enjoyable day with river conditions very good and the odd fish rising. Unfortunately a nil return, despite frequent change of fly on a dry line.
