A lovely session with some great water to go at. The trout were playing hard to get but some lovely oos grayling were caught, we couldn't seem to get away from them! We were on holiday in the cottages by the river and would love to revisit for the grayling come winter time. We caught fish to nymph, dry dropper and dry fly when a hatch of March browns took off around lunch time. A very fun morning's fishing! Tricky, slippery bottom to wade on though, definitely bring a wading staff and studs if you want to fish from the water!

River good and had a chance of a grayling but lost it.

Fished for 2 hrs. Lost a nice one then caught a decent one of about a pound.

Had 3 days at Barnard Castle, fish rising at end of caravan park and opposite Egglestone Abbey, a lot of fish rising, but at my last vist finding what they were taking was difficult, tried everything in the box. one on a palmered Whickham, 3 on a Griffiths and the last on a Shipmans Buzzer. Beautiful scenery, slippery rocks, but had a lovely time.

River very high.

Warm, overcast with bursts of sunshine, slight breeze but fine for cast control.
Various fly types on the water, but trout rising to take yellow may duns. Hatches were spasmodic but when on, trout seen to leap into the air to take them. Takes were often aggressive and all fish caught and more lost, were fishing a dun imitation.

7 Trout, 1 Grayling

Fished after few days of rain, lower beat. No luck. Various wet flys.

We fished a good range of flies in the heat of a very hot day. 11am - 4pm. Far from ideal in such conditions.
