One brow trout caught on N Country spider pattern. Water slightly coloured after the recent rain but river level acceptable for wading. Some rain during the day but did not spoil my time there. No luck with the Salmon.

Caught one Brown Trout at 1 1/2 lb, stunning fish, caught in a quiet stretch near the end of the bottom beat. As I was there not long after the 'GreenMan' festival, the estate looked like a scene from a war movie!! Staff were very pleasant though, and the fishing is generally easy to get to, it's even possible to take your car along the top beat. I haven't fished all the beats of the Usk and Wye, however this one is going to be very hard to better. For afternoon amusement I was lucky enough to see two fighter jets practice their moves going over and around the valley
My only disappointment is that there are no beats available this week, or I'd be back!!

The river was a little coloured but lot's of fish rising. Decided to stick with dries - plenty of sedge and sporadic varying up-winged hatches through the day.
What an amazing days fishing it turned into. Biggest trout weighing in at a pound and a half with a tally of somewhere between 25-35 each (majority on sedge). I stopped counting after about 20, the same went for Andy fishing with me.
Well recommended beat with a good mix of water would like to fish it for salmon in the future.

Booked through the wyeuskfoundation. They recommended a guide called Chris Taylor who was superb and a lovely man with a good sense of humour.
3 rods over 1 and a half days fishing. 2 adults and 2 children went on the trip, we were camping 4 miles from the estate.
A total of 6 brown trout we caught of which only 2 were keepers at a 1lb in size (12 inches). Fished near the bridge left and right mainly with the main success wading close to the bridge. Also fished about a 5 min walk further down with no success. Small flies used.

A good day, there was some colour in the water which made wading a little more challenging. All fish caught were very small largest being around 8-9 inches long.

The final day of my excursion to the usk. I really enjoyed my day at Glanusk, it had a lovely feel to the beat. Caught plenty of trout (lost count to be honest) biggest to about 13". Like the other beats earlier in the week there was a distinct lack of rising fish so to the nymph i turned. River was quite high and forceful in the streamy sections so a wading staff a must but tricky wading was rewarded by quantity of fish. Various weighted nymphs did the business, below the bridge was a particular hotspot. Thanks to seth for the advice on the beats and thanks to the rest of the team for their good work.

River absolutely in perfect condition, 1 ft on the Ganusk gauge is just right. I had 14 browns from 6in to 12in on addams dry. I fished from the bridge up river to the first pool - a nice place to fish not to difficult a bank to fish from. A nice spot is by the bridge up stream to wade out a little way so as you can cast under the trees, there are a few fish always there and all so in mid river. Can't believe there was no rain here to mess things up.
