River so low we could walk across. No weed anywhere - the river is dying from pollution.

We found the directions were okay however the gate way was a lot further down and we were unsure if this was the right one. The gates were open when we got there. The track was fully overgrown with grass about 3 foot high and a few hidden pot holes on the way down. Would not recommend going down the track if it’s wet.
The car park is a fair size so no problem with 2 vehicles. We stayed in the car park and went to have a look down the river side track into the field . We did not feel there was room enough to turn a long vehicle round at the end of the track so would have needed to reverse back.
We fished the pegs just below the car park at the bottom of the steep steps.
We would not recommend this venue for anyone with mobility issues as the banks are high although there is a narrow walk way along the river at the bottom of the steps it’s a bit tight if you are carrying tackle. This is not a moan its just advice for anglers thinking of coming here.
Definitely no criticism of the fishing. We never caught a barbel , not for the want of trying this was our third day in a row at different beats were no barbel were caught. Just bad timing with the river so low
All together we had about 35 chub we only listed 20 the others were chublets under a pound biggest were 4 about the four pound mark. Most of them came to a feeder approach with the odd one on the stick float . We also had a good few hours on the stick float catching good quality dace and the odd bleak or three along with minnows. Maybe not everyone’s cup of tea but we thoroughly enjoyed the day.
Hope this helps you with your choices

The River conditions on the day was low with a good pace.
Weather overcast all day with a cold northern wind.

No fish, no bites, great weather. Warm but changeable in the morning and unseasonably hot in the evening.
Spinning using flying Cs, Tobys and anything else I could try from my lure box.
Fished from 6 til 10:30 and 5pm til 9:30pm.
Water was clear with a decent flow.
On arrival I disturbed a couple of herons who were more successful than me. After a few minutes the aerial salmon display started - none interested in the spinners. Lots of activity at the Lugg mouth noted - one huge white/silver salmon leapt vertically 4 foot straight up out of the water just in front of me. I nearly jumped 4 foot myself!
Had some interesting interruptions from aggressive swans and some thirsty Hereford cattle. However, I can’t blame them or even the evening kayak boys for my failure. A gorgeous day by the Wye for my first attempt at salmon fishing.
Excellent service from Alison from the Fishing Passport on the phone. Will definitely try again!

Only fished for a few hours due to the long journey back in time for the football.

Very disappointing, no bites but canoes were an absolute nightmare. For some reason they were all coming upstream, presumably from the camp site. At one point I had 6 canoes in my swim trying to get through a section of faster water.

Beautiful, well maintained beat which I would definitely fish again, this was just a short unfortunate day.

A fish hooked and lost on spinner in pylon pool -a swan managed to swim into the line just after the take and get its wing wrapped round the line - I had to give slack and finally after “releasing” the swan the fish was still on and running well down into luggs mouth but soon after became detached. A few perch came to the mepps also.

A great days fishing in the pouring rain.
Fish caught in various swims throughout the length of the beat. All fish caught on pellet and swim feeder method.
Stunning fishery but you probably need a 4x4 to get down the track to the fishing hut.
