WOW best days fishing ever. Where do I start. Started fishing 7.30am caught chub steadily all day upto 6lb, me and my mate must of had 40 good sized fish and plenty of dace and smaller chub. Decided to move downstream about 7pm and thats when the fun really started, fished till 9.30pm. In this 2 1/2 hour spell I had 10 barbel over 5lb upto 7lb and my mate had 13 barbel of the same weight. I have never seen such a feeding frenzy like it they were leaping out of the water taking on the drop. Halibut pellets caught them all. Thanks WUF

Chub only today. Barbel staying amongst streamer weed, of which there is a lot, making them difficult to land. Next time, with different tactics, I expect to do a lot better.
Access excellent and for the first time on the Wye, my dad, who walks on crutches was able to get down to the river and back up again unassisted. The path to drive down is a bit confusing to find at first. The only way I can describe it is to go straight on through the entrance gate, through two other gates (which aren't mentioned in the description) and you'll end up at the miniature fishing hut.

I wouldn't like to drive out of the gate on my own though. There's absolutely no way of seeing the road left or right, and it can be fairly busy at times, so I wouldn't recommend fishing this one alone.

Arrived at this beat very early and was into fish straight away. I had 4 barbel between 6 and 8lb in the first 2 hrs and my fishing partner had 3 barbel between 4 and 6lb and a chub. Then the sun got on the water and the fish went off so we spent the rest of the day roving this lovely beat and had a further 4 barbel upto 6lb and 6 chub upto 5lb ish. I had a lovely time trotting with sweetcorn and caught some very good dace upto 8ozs but were mostly 5 or 6 ozs. It was a shame we had to leave at 5pm because we would of had a few more fish I feel.

We had an unexpected salmon angler for a couple of hours on the beat but despite seing a few fish jumping he didn't get one. Had a good chat with the baliff he was very helpful and had a few good storys to tell. Many thanks for a truely lovely day.

2x chub to 4lbs+ on luncheon meet, plus one barbel 5lbs+, also on luncheon meat.

River conditions were excellent but the day was horrific. Definitely not recommended for Sunday fishing. I have fished the wye now for 12 years and obviously tollerent of the canoes, but some idiot that hired out a few canoes told the canoeist to paddle upstream which, if you have canoed, is very difficult, especially at the rapids. There were people trying to canoe up the rapids whilst the canoeists from Hereford were trying to get down causing commotion and leading to capsizing and all sorts. The desperation of the paddles hitting the side of the boat whilst trying to get up the rapids was horrendous and I think obviously put the fish off. Therefore not recommended whilst school hols or sundays I dont think.

Excellent day for fishing. The river rose a foot while we were there. We had bit of a problem in the faster water with the weed that was dislodged by the rising water. Rods bent round within minutes of casting out. We found some slower water and using pellets we caught between us 9 chub and 12 barbel to 8lb 8oz. Very enjoyable day and worth another visit. Thanks Wye and Usk Foundation.
We stayed overnight at the Falcon House at How Capel. Highly recommended.

Started around 10.30 just by the fishing hut, water clear and low, caught several chub to 4lb. After lunch moved downstream and started to catch Barbel took 3 to 6lb and lost a big one in the weed. Finished around 6pm would probably have landed more towards dusk.

Weather cloudy and windy, put my brolly up as a shield from the chilly wind. Caught lots of chub some were good fish 4/5lb, but no barbel. I caught them on sweetcorn and pellets. Saw a Pike take a baby Moorhen with Mother making mournful cries, but this is nature. If it is not possible to cross the field in your vehicle it is quite a treck with your gear. It is a lovely stretch of river and should fish well with a good flow of water.

Sunday Chubby Sunday.
Arrived late @ 4 pm, very windy, first cast a 4.12 chub which set the tone for the next 5 1/2 hours - some kind of feeding frenzy irrespective of bait, hook size, hair length etc. I stopped counting after a dozen, mostly around 3-4 lb with a few chublets thrown in, some bites within a second of pellet landing in the water. A welcome break at 9pm when a solitary 8lb barbel joined the party then after that more chub.
