The river was dropping and the sun was shining. Fantastic beat. River still at about 3ft above summer level. My 11 year old son lost one barbel and caught one late on during the day of 8lbs 2oz. Once the sun was shining the river went dead, and the only thing I caught was the sun. Will be back as I am sure with a little cloud cover I can at least get one!

Slightly limited swim choice with 4ft of water on but decided to fish the last two swims before the island. Pellet and boilie produced 10 barbel to around 7lb 8oz and 10 chub to around 5lb. Fish seemed slightly cagey with some tentative bites and the swims dried up somewhat after lunch. Lovely beat though and will return hopefully when there is less water!! Ended a fantastic first trip to the Wye with 45 barbel and 10 chub in 3 days fishing. Many thanks again Wye and Usk!

Thanks to Tony the river keeper, we avoided the very long walk to the river. He was good enough to come down the track as he saw us arriving and lead us along another track, right to the river's edge. After a promising start on the pylon swims where we caught 8 Barbel and lots of Chub the river died on us as lunchtime approached.
Pellets the best bait, then a few more on the meat.

19 barbel and several chub, taken on a mixture of pellets, meat and boilies. Conditions quite challenging and fish very localised as usual, but a good day's sport nonetheless.

A difficult day for the two of us. One barbel each and six small chub. River level seemed fine about 4ft up. Water felt unusually cold for mid July. Will try again when things warm up! Thanks

Conditions worse than yesterday stuck it out for a few hours to no avail more like Winter than Summer.

River very high and pacey. Could only fish middle section in the edge, not enjoyable, 1 barbel 1 chub.
