1 rod blanked the other rod caught 2 barbel, biggest 7lbs & 2 chub. All fish caught on robin red pellet. It was hard to locate fish despite trying 10 swims between us on a day which looked ideal conditions but thats fishing I guess. Will be back soon.

The river wasn't particularly high by this Summer's standards but still much higher than the previous times we had fished this beat over the last couple of years. Consequently it wasn't really possible to fish the swims at the bottom end on which we'd concentrated in the past, so we weren't too confident initially.
However we needn't have worried. We eventually settled on a couple of likely looking glides around halfway down the beat. The fish came fairly steadily throughout the day and we finished with 17 Barbel to just under 8lb and 3 Chub between us. Always a pleasure to catch fish in such beautiful surroundings.
SC reckons that as he caught 9 Barbel and 1 Chub to my 8 Barbel and 2 Chub he was the winner on the day. Obviously he is wrong - 10 fish each is a draw in anyone's book. I would therefore like to ask the WUF to adjudicate on this serious matter.

WUF note - Comparing the total weight of fish to each angler may settle this friendly competition....!

River at nice level for summer, fished the bottom pool. Must have had 15 barbel but the biggest only of 7-8lbs. Plenty of big chub mixed in aswell which must have averaged 4lbs. All fish came on either the feeder or trotting pellets.

After 4 days fishing on the Wye I was pretty much fished out. Arrived to find river a little bit up and with colour. However it was clear blue sky and very hot and humid. I decided to have a short fish at the top croy but no luck. It was really too hot to fish so packed up and returned home. I'd had a good week. Will perhaps try the beat sometime later in the year (when it's cooler !!).

Arrived 3.45pm Wednesday, river looked in good nic. Fished the bottom beat and worked our way back to the hut. 4 barbel and 3 chub. Met Colin the ghillie, realy nice bloke. Had a good ole chat, he pointed in the right direction. Next day was sunny and hot so most fish caught early morning. 10 barbel to 8lb and 13 chub including the boys pb chub of 5lb 8oz. Most were caught on feeder fished pellet. Thanks again to colin who made are stay memorable.
