A difficult day for the two of us. One barbel each and six small chub. River level seemed fine about 4ft up. Water felt unusually cold for mid July. Will try again when things warm up! Thanks

River very high and pacey. Could only fish middle section in the edge, not enjoyable, 1 barbel 1 chub.

My prefered part of the beat at the bottom end was flooded so I fished the last swim on the high bank. I had 8 barbel to 9lb, all caught on halibut pellet and soft spicy sausage soft pellets. The river turned a chocolate colour at 5 o clock and then rose 10ft in the next 12 hours.

A very late booking due to heavy rain. The stretch we had booked we elected not to fish. Visited Holme Lacy and found no-one on the beat. Rang the WUF and after they spoke with Colin the Ghillie we were able to fish from about 1pm.
River high, coloured and pushing through. Needed a lot of lead to hold bottom, but by fishing the bottom of the beat we managed 6 barbel and 2 chub to one rod and 8 barbel to the other. The biggest about 9lbs - all the fish were in excellent condition although a couple were a bit lean and obviously recovering from spawning. All caught using heavy feeders and pellet.
Despite the poor conditions and the inclement weather a productive day.
Many, many thanks to the WUF who made every effort on our behalf so that we could fish, and Colin the ghillie for his advice and assistance as always.

River was about 4 feet up over summer level and heavily coloured. We fished off the bottom end of the island and had a fantastic days fishing. The fish fed all day and we ended with a total of 31 Barbel and 10 chub, best fish was 7 1/2 pounds.
Thank you to the Wye and Usk foundation and to Colin for strimming the swim.

First time on the Wye and our feeders were not big enough. Still had a nice day with 8 barbel to 8lb 2 chub and an eel. Bailiff was a great help. Long walk to the best swim but worth it.

On a falling, but still coloured river, we enjoyed a good day, sharing a catch of 30 barbel (to 6lb) and 6 chub between us. In the fast flow the barbel made up for their lack of size by tearing off downstream. A most enjoyable day: the weather was kind and we watched hobbies over the far bank woods. Thanks as always to Colin, the keeper, whose hard work ensures we had good access and fishable swims.

The river was high on our arrival and rising, about 6 feet up over summer level, rising to 7 feet during the course of the day. The current was strong as a result.
Sport was a lot slower than previous visits last year at this time. The fish fed only sporadically. That said we still caught 9 barbel to 8lb 12oz and a couple of chub. Bait was halibut pellet fished behind a feeder. A good day all in all.
