After a really gruelling day on Saturday it was just the tonic to be on HL3 again . The weather was due to be hot and clear after the mist cleared and so I set up a float rod and after 30 minutes loose feeding had 6 chub in the first six casts ( mental fishing) !!!

Fished various croynes in the afternoon for another 7 chub. Other were 6 small chublets .

Chris had more barbel today than his whole 3 day visit last year and well earned too.
Sherpa Coning added a few to the tally between his duties as chef.
A wonderful day on this stunning beat. It really is a treat to fish there.

Started stick floating around 10am approx 65 small chub and dace a fish a chuck more or less ...tried for a barbel during the after noon but no joy on the feeder and pellet ...back on the float till around 5ish lost a good chub to a snag then had 3 more chub around the 2lb mark ...back on the feeder around 6 and managed to get a barbel of 7lb 12oz and a chub of 4lb 7oz on meat before close of play ...a very enjoyable day on a lovely beat

This was my fourth attempt to fish this beat, the first two being with very high water and heavy rain, and the last resulting in a wash-off. So it was a relief to spend a few hours on a pleasant September evening on the bank with good water conditions. The fish were obliging too, with barbel between 5 and 7 lbs and chub up to about 4 lbs. I fished the feeder with pellet and meat baits.

Only one fished. Great days again on this beautiful stretch. Most of the fish caught on the float with small 6mm pellet. Biggest barbel was 6lb most of them were in the 3-4lb bracket. The stamp of chub though was great all but one was over 3lb and the biggest being 5lb 9oz.
