First overnight frost and the barbel were quiet. The usual spot was throwing up a few to one chap. The chub were very obliging with two going over 5lbs. Feeder and ellips. Very well looked after stretch with strimmed paths and swims, having fished at Caradoc the day before it was nice to have most of the beat accesible.

Had a great day thanks to Colin the bailiff who gave us good advice on where to fish. Nice stretch of the Wye.

5 Barbel, 7 Chub

Second day on Holme Lacey, river still mega low and today we had sunshine for good measure but as can often happen the barbel fed a bit better this time and we managed a slightly more credible 11 barbel and 11 chub again all caught on various pellets. The river desperately needs rain and then should fish brilliantly. Once again it was great to spend a bit of time chatting to Colin and learning more about the river and the fish in it. Finally for this year another big thank you to the W.U.F for making it all possible.

11 Barbel, 11 Chub

First of 2 days on this beat. River was painfully low and clear we fished virtually every swim apart from the deep water on the bend and ended up catching 3 barbel and 27 chub all on vvarious pellets.

3 Barbel, 27 Chub

What a day! Up to 11.30am I caught only one chub then decided to change location. Feeding regularly the first barbel came at 12.30am after which I had steady takes. The biggest barbel was 12lb, the biggest I have caught in my life. What tactics? It will be my sweet secret. A great beat well maintained.

Very low and clear conditions. All fish on the float after scaling down.

7 Chub

This beat is well looked after by Colin. Only had a few hours on the float, all fish taken on corn towards the end of the beat. A very good day in a wonderful part of the world will return next year, many thanks.

A good day, in fact the best of the week. Chub caught mostly on feeder but some on float tactics. The Barbel (best fish 6.5lb) all caught on feeder fished pellet.
