River was fishing low and clear even after the heavy rain the night before. As it has already been said in previous reports the opposite side of the bank up from the bridge for about 2/3rds of the remaining stretch was busy with anglers making most of the river unfishable, not wanting to ruin there fishing opposite.
Three of us booked the stretch and we found the available options on where to fish quite limited because of the opposite bank pressure.
Having said that the river is quite stunning in its beauty and we were quite happy with spending most of our time fishing the end section below the bridge. We started catching Chub in the fast water and eventually one rod found a place the Barbel where holding up. All three of us were very happy with our catches and enjoyed our time on the river. We had Barbel to over 9Lb and Chub to over 4Lb.

We arrived at this attractive and accessible beat to find the far bank lined with anglers from the Birmingham AA, who now control that side of the water down to the bridge. The sight of keepnets in the water for barbel was quite alarming.
We don't always expect exclusivity but this fishing is very expensive and our options were severely restricted, perhaps this should be mentioned in the beat description. My companion did very well to winkle out two barbel and three chub from the fast water while I had to content myself with four chub.

I fished the last swim at the very end of the beat. Started on the feeder fishing the crease on the edge of the slack water. I had a few small chub around 6oz. After 3 hours of watching a motionless quivertip I got the trotting rod out and had 2 decent chub one over 4lb. The 2 guys upstream didnt appear to be fairing much better although I did see a barbel come out. The highlight of the day was a kingfisher perched on my rod. Beware if you dont like cattle. They are in the field and are very curious surrounding my car and licking the paint for whatever reason.

Nice beat with plenty of swims available. The opposite bank had a lot of anglers and a working party going on. All fish on swim feeder and pellets. Many thanks.

A beautiful stretch of water! We arrived early and chose our spot, I struggled until about 1600 catching 4 nice chub on pellet, then after 4pm the Barbel began showing, all taken on pellet. JT had a fantastic day trotting with a float with pellet. 34 Chub later......
Thanks to the Wye and Usk.

River running very low and best swims were those with flow and good weed growth. Rolling meat proved effective and it was great fun wading out to fish this method. A hot day with a lot of canoe traffic and swimmers.

Very disappointing to pay £45 each for the 3 of us
when there is 7 fisherman on the opposite bank paying a fraction of the price and fishing the best swims. Won't be paying that again. 3 barbell, 2 chub on pellet.

Nice quiet day's fishing resulting in 5 barbel to 7.5lb, taken on the usual pellet baits. River is very clear and low now. However, river looked beautiful at first light due to the 8 degree temperature resulting in columns of mist across the water - more like a September morning.

Fished 100 metres downstream of the bridge on the beach.
This rod caught 16 barbel all on 8 mm halibut pellets and feeders. Most of the fish ranged from 6 - 8lb. Another rod fished 100 metres beyond that and had the same result using the same method.
Longer hook lengths seemed to be the call! Before we found these, one of the guys fancied making his own swim only to find he was sitting on a otters nest which hissed at him. The other fisherman blanked and if you asked him, he would not go back, thought he had a good swim but couldn't avoid the weed.
