5 Kelts (2 lost), 3 Brown Trout, 1 Sea Trout. No signs of fresh fish but obviously loads of kelts in the river. All well mended. All taken on spinning gear. Once again a lovely day at Caradoc. The Sea Trout made my day.

A late start as going on the previous few days fishing, its important to choose your swim carefully in the low conditions. I picked a swim near the footbridge and with careful feeding, coaxed out 6 Barbel to 8lb 7oz and 7 Chub.
The other rods managed 4 Barbel between them.

First time on this beat, river up and covering the croys completely. Lots of weed and debris coming down so could only fish a rod length out, finished with 1 chub. Very picturesque and will return here next summer.

Back for another go but unfortunately so was the weather and the crowds. This is a lovely and varied beat but it's definitely a place to avoid on a sun-baked weekend (a little unexpected in October!) if you want some peace and quiet, it was like Blackpool sea front at times.
Highlight of the day was being asked by a young lady "is it ok to swim in the river or will I get fish hooks in my feet?" - ??
From a piscatorial perspective 6 barbel & 3 chub were our reward for persistence, all caught towards last knockings.

In the continuing heatwave we followed up our tough day at Whitehouse with further spectacular lack of success here. Again despite again fishing a variety of areas and baits the sum total of our efforts were 1 barbel & 2 chub.
In our defence along with the weather, the world and his wife were out and about on this beat and I'm pretty sure there were more people than fish in the river at one point! But what the heck, everyone enjoyed themselves including us and there was always tomorrow!

This is our 3rd visit to Caradoc with only 4 rods fishing as per the local rules, again the river proved rock hard on what has to be one of our favourite beats available, extremely peaceful and quite, especially after Wyastone Leys the previous day, all set in stunning surroundings.
Like may other previous reports the weed was a problem throughout and despite searching most of the beat, starting on the shallows and working our way back upriver past the hut, only 3 Barbel around the 7lb were landed by the pellet anglers.
One of the rods did put together a reasonable catch of silver fish trotting sweetcorn from one of the croyes, dace and chublets etc, with none of the bigger Chub or Barbel being tempted by the method.
Again many Salmon were heard and spotted crashing around, especially around the hut leaping well clear above the water on several occasions, this must me some ritual the fish perform to entertain the anglers.
All in all a fitting end to a wonderful 3 day beak, made even more enjoyable by record braking weather, “we will be back”.

Another good day and the weather was kind to us as well. 15 Barbel and 2 chub caught, best fish just under 10lb and what a specimen.

This weeks fishing totalled over 80 fish for 3 rods, one of our best weeks fishing on the Wye. Thanks to all at WUF

Incompetently we struggled today landing only 3 barbel (all about 7lbs) and a couple of chub between the two of us. Still all fishing days are good days - especially on the Wye.

Following on from the previous day's efforts. Toni permitted 'Jilted John' to fish the 'Hot Spot' swim of the previous day. The remaining 3 rods slotted in at close quarters. The day proved much tougher than the previous albeit 3 rods did improve on their previous days catches. The weather deteriorated on the strong wind and heavy rain fell. The combination of these two elements took their toll on the two oldies of the group as they scuttled to the van. No complaints about the beat though! Final return for the 4 rods was 7 barbel between 5lb and 8lb mixed in with the odd chub here and there. Same tactics of halibut pellet, fished hair rigged over feeders was the successful method. How long will they keep getting caught in this manner to these tactics is anyones guess, but for me, a change will be made next visit. Finally, it was noce to see that 'Ton Up Toni' was human after all!!
