Very low river as expected and lack of experience on this type of venue led to a disappointing day
Will come back in winter to try again.
No fish caught

A good day chose the swim wisely, low water but kept the feed going in and enticed the fish out.
Pellet produced the better fish 2 x Barbel to 8lB the rest around 4-5lb, chub from 2lb -4lb, then a bit of Dace on the float road.
Stayed a Caplor Glamping and Camping in their Caravan, Windmill View.
When the weather is as dry as it is and the crops are vehicles could safely be parked behind pegs with no issues to the natural surroundings, maybe something to consider for the future as good access is on the top 3 of every anglers list.

Fishing Passport Note : Anglers must always adhere to the parking instructions in the beat details issued. They have been agreed with the Fishery Owner. There is usually a very good reason they are, what they are.

Water levels very low and clear,,bright sunshine, 30° and quite a few canoes. However, a cracking day had by all. We moved around different swims throughout the day and tried different techniques including wading with the float, free lining and standard feeder. The barbel weren’t showing as they usually would, however, we still banked 4 along with 44 chub all on pellets, ,meat or bread

Fished afternoon and evening. Tried trotting and wading to no avail. Thinking conditions against me ,thought Id scope out the layout of river for future visits, started to walk the length of river up from beach. Half way up looked down a couldnt believe my eyes , a shoal of barbel at my feet all coming in and out of a deep spot and overhanging tree. Watched in awe as they glided between each other. Beat a quick retreat, grabbed my gear..... fed heavy for an hour and rolling meat ...... it's easy when you know where they are!!!!

Amazingly , considering the conditions , we caught barbel all day long in a shallow but fast moving stretch that could not have been more than 40 cm deep. a great day.

Water levels are so desperately low and with hot sunny conditions it was a very tough day. Found a deep pocket and managed 4 barbel in the morning and 2 barbel and a chub late into the evening. Great stretch managed really well by Stefan.

2 guys from lower hill court fishing the middle hill beat today by wading up the river. We were told to ‘go find a bailiff’ if we wanted to do something about it.

Disappointing and poor behaviour.

Is there an overlap of the 2 beats, or no signs on the other bank?

Fishing Passport Comment : Suspected poaching incidents should be reported to the Booking Office asap.
