8 chub, 1 barbel, 1 eel all caught on meat or pellet.
River looked really good with a small amount of streamer weed but that was not a problem. Not as many canoeists as we had expected but those who were out were very courteous and stayed well clear of us.

First time on this beat. Arrived 5am and walked the stretch. Started in the shallows with no action. Fished the only deep swim to have any flow on it. Had an eel first cast. Caught chub and barbel until lunchtime. Had the afternoon off, mainly due to leaving my water at home and couldn't sit in the heat with no fluids. Started fishing again at 5pm and caught steadily until I packed up at 9pm. Barbel were all a good size, 8-9lb. That's 63 barbel in 5 trips to 5 different Wye and usk beats, 3 I'd not fished before, but no doubles.

When we arrived the weather was overcast but warm and the river was low and clear so we were hopeful of a good day. 1st barbel was caught at 9:50am but although we were getting knocks they were very tentative. Just before lunch we were visited by a lot of canoeist kids from school then the heavens opened and the bites stopped. At around 4pm it got brighter and the bites came back, chub and eels putting in appearances, one eel being about 3lb. As the night came we got a few barbel 6-8lb and a few more chub up to 4lb all at the top off the beat just before the Goodrich stretch. A good day but hard going due to river being so low. There were 3 salmon in the top pool and in the Goodrich stretch, jumping about. Will be back later in the year to have another go. A brilliant stretch but had to pick up an empty meat tin from car park so please check you've got everything before you go. Leave only footprints, take only pictures.

Got down to beat at about 5.00 am fished top swim and didn't even get a knock. Moved down river trying to find an accessible swim and found 1 in 1/2 mile. Fishing poor with bites few and far between. We have fished six beats on wuf and this is the worst for swims and bites. Just being honest.

All the usual ingredients contributing to another very enjoyable day. Started off with a bit of jungle warfare to get to my favourite swim. The nettles gave way in the end!
Fishing was slow but punctuated with just enough action to make it worthwhile. Started off with a 5lbish Barbel early doors but all was quiet for a couple of hours after this. A decent Chub on sweetcorn first cast after switching baits got me all excited for a while. Quiet again for a couple of hours then a lovely Barbel around the 8lb mark woke me up. Rather bizarrely I then reeled in an eel around the 1 1/2lb mark which had been lassoed by my hook length. To thank me for untangling it the blighter clamped his teeth firmly round my index finger drawing blood in the process. Feisty little so and so. Moved swims a couple of times and caught one more Chub.
Sadly had to pack up at teatime and would have loved to have fished on. No better place to be on a summer's evening in my opinion.

First day of a full week on the Wye and first trip to this venue. Just an evening session due to travelling down today. We walked the full stretch and decided to fish the deeper water and share one swim between the two of us.
We started fishing at 6pm until dusk and caught steadily during the evening from the start. All fish caught on hair rigged large double elips pellets with 1.5oz feeders with groundbait and pellets.
The fish were of a good average size of around 7lbs. We weighed two, they were 8.2 and 8.4. All fought very hard.
A fantastic evening in great surroundings. Good access and nice to chat to the ghillie who was on the above stretch.
Peace and quiet, apart from the reel screaming.

Father and son fishing for salmon and coarse 21st to 25th June. Very disappointed with bank condition and access down to riverside. Better results could be had if more access points were provided from top of bank down to the fishing position. Would not visit again unless the conditions are improved.

A cracking days fishing with the first Barbel being landed at 0540 it was then a 2 hour wait for the next one, but it was worth it. The Barbel then came thick and fast with an average of one every 45 minutes interspersed with Chub. All fish were in excellent condition with the largest being 9 lb 2 oz and the smallest 4 1/2 lb. They were caught using a variety of baits from boilies to pellet. It must be said that of the total catch all but 2 Barbel and 1 Chub were caught by one angler who had to land a total of 114 lb of Barbel. A good tip for anyone going fishing on the river this early in the season is to take a machete to clear swims as some were quite overgrown.

No salmon activity in this area today. Beware of nesting swans on the bank near the bottom end of the beat as they did not offer a pleasant greeting...lol
A small sign to indicate a location of the pool access would have been nice as the banks are steep and over grown with nettle. Cheers

Nothing caught but salmon briefly took hold in the Parsons Stream. Ford Stream is a great piece of fly water.

Description of the beat was OK but two points worth mentioning. Parsons Stream is a relatively easy wade in medium to low water. Your description of it being difficult is a little off putting since it is not easily fished from the bank. Ford Stream has a get out ladder at the tail but is a trcky wade in deep water to reach it (with 1ft on the guage.)The alternative is an equally tricky wade back upstream against a strong current. The main holding pool, Rope Pool, can be fished with fly towards the tail but would benefit from having some branches lopped back to open up more water.
I enjoyed my day but think the adjacent Goodrich Court Beat probably offers better opportunities for the fly fisher.
WUF Note: we will look into these recommendations for beat improvement.
