Whist the weather was good, I used meat and a light ledger tactic dropping in many of the available swims during the morning and caught 4 chub. As forecast, the weather in the afternoon changed to wind & rain, so decided to go with a feeder and boilie rig from under the protection of my brolly - Caught 1 barbel.

Tough day for all who fished this beat. Had to search out the fish and tried 3 different swims for 4 fish. On each occasion a move resulted in a fish in the first hour then no more bites

Stefan, the bailiff, saved the day for me. The river still seems a bit out of sorts for the time of year end I was struggling to get a bite until Stefan came along and suggested a change of swim around mid afternoon. No barbel this time but I dropped straight onto a shoal of good sized superbly conditioned chub which brightened the day and saved a potential blank. Thank you! The fishery is beautifully situated, well maintained and the ropes are particularly appreciated when the ground is slippery. On the minus side, the price of a day ticket does seem high compared to other beats which offer an equal chance of a barbel.

Another nice mild morning but with the river slower than last week and very clear - I could see every leaf on the bottom in nearly 3 foot of water. I caught 4 chub quickly on GB feeder and 10mm halibuts and then odd ones throughout the day. Loads of rattles of fish hitting the feeder but not turning into bites despite scaling down. The two barbel of 5.10 and 7.09 fell to boillie and bomb/PVA bags. A triffic day given the water clarity

Difficult conditions rain and wind throughout the day. Fish caught across the day in different swims using standard feeder tactics and boilies. Banks were tricky to access in the wet so the ropes made it much easier to get down (and get back up!). Great day out and will be back.

Further challenging conditions with the river low and clear. One angler blanked but others caught with the fish obviously shoaled in some spots and absent in others.
