Rod 1 caught 5 barbel to 7lbs. Rod 2 caught 3 chub to 4lbs and 5 barbel 9lbs 14 oz (2ozs short!). All fish taken using halibut and hemp mix in swim feeders (many of them) with 8mm halibut pellet on 10 of the 30 or 40 hook links used between the two rods over the 12 hour session. Fortunately weather and canoe traffic both favourable. 2 of the barbel were hooked and landed with an audience of canoeists so that blows one of my well used excuses out of the water. Salmon very active throughout the day. Sadly have to support comments made in earlier reports about the amount of discarded equipment, mono etc on the bank and empty sweet corn can in the water in the margin (?) but that could have come downstream from non-WUF beats.

Fished on the 2nd 3rd and 4th Sept. 1st day had 1 barbel 8lb 4oz - lost 2. Had 2 chub to 5lb 1oz. 2nd day 4 barbel to 8lb 2oz and 2 chub. 3rd day 7 barbel to 8lb 3oz plus 2 chub, all caught on pellet boilie combinations. All the fish bar 2 came from the lesser fished swims, enjoyed the fishing, always something to think about, will return.

River about 1ft up and fining down after the weekend flood water. Fished from 3pm - 8pm. Only saw half a dozen canoes. Had a barbel on the third cast using hemp and groundbait feeder with pellet hookbait. No free offerings. Caught steadily up to 12 fish, biggest went 8lb exactly. Great to catch fish in bright sunlight. They all fought and went back really well with the fresh water in the river. Many thanks WUF!

Unfortunately no fish caught despite the river looking very good with extra water and very coloured. Having fished here before we tried all the usual swims but the constant rubbish coming down the river at all levels made fishing very difficult even with heavy leads. We finished up fishing tight in to near bank until dusk with no success. All the usual baits were tried,just one of those days really.The previous day by all accounts the river fished brilliantly. Typical!

First trip to the Wye for 40 years. No barbel or Indian Balsam in those days. Memories of trying to hold bottom with a spilt cane rod and arlesey bomb in a chocolate coloured torrent were still vivid. I arrived to find the river chocolate colour but not too much of a torrent! Found a swim - didn't fancy going into the water as couldn't see the bottom and on own - a bit rudimentary but looks good. Tried various baits and had a barbel earlier on a boilie 6lb 1oz my first barbel ever believe it or not. Hooked 2 without detecting bites - loose weed on the line was a real nuisance all day. The first was a good fish from the slackwater on the far bank, on sweetcorn, ripped off downstream and snagged me in a tree before the hook pulled, Second on pellet, hook pulled again.
Shocking weather all day, got a soaking and good coating of mud but very happy. Great river, great fishing and will be back hoping for more barbel and a few chub and less Indian Balsam.

Good height with hint of rise. Nothing seen.

Just the one Barbel, 8lb 1oz and lost another in the morning. But the highlight for me was spotting an otter, though appreciate that may not be good news for the fish. Returned in the evening for a couple of hours but nothing doing. Enjoyable trip despite the lack of fish.

Having struggled on White House beat with weed and wet weather with only one lost fish between us. Sunday saw us on Middle Hill Court with glorious weather and a river carrying a foot or so of extra water. We spent the day on feeder tactics with hemp/pellets, hookbait-larger pellets.
Chose a lovely nearbank glide below the small rapids towards the top of the beat but drew a blank. Spent the afternoon in a couple of swims in the middle of the beat and G Gordon caught his first ever barbel of 6.5lb, 7lb, and 7.5lb. Unfortunately we had to leave for home having finally located some fish. Great weekend and great service, thanks.

Started at Backney on Friday 20th with river very low and clear and in appalling weather, heavy rain and driving wind. Managed 1 barbel between the 4 of us.

Middle Hill Court on Saturday 21st saw us fare little better with either the fish or the weather. Adam (baliff) kindly came and spent a little time with us, a thoroughly nice guy who gave us lots of advice. However, despite Adam's advice, a rapidly rising / colouring river and fishing well into dusk we only managed 2 barbel between us!

Whitehouse on Sunday 22nd at least saw improved weather conditions but despite the flush of much needed water the fishing was still slow. We had 5 barbel all told falling to 2 rods with the best at 8-3. There were a few chub caught but nothing worthwhile and the majority of the barbel were taken on pellet although a variety of baits were tried.

8 barbel between 3 of us. The newly cut swims below the Vanstone pool were the most productive. Fish fed all day but with more gusto in the evening. Boilie the best bait.
