None caught. Several rises and takes on the dry fly and then nymph. Typical late July conditions - ie, not much serious interest from the fish. It's a lovely stretch of water though.

3 Brownies up to 13ins caught, two lost and several missed on take. Difficult day - hot, low water levels and fish very fussy. All caught on varous klinkhammers.

Easy wading, certainly but getting in and out is not for the unfit. I think this point should be made in the Foundation description, coupled with the fact that you have to climb a wired and padlocked gate to gain access to the beat.

Lovely beat but conditions made the fish hard to come by. Low, very discoloured water and a blazing sun all day.

However, took four excellent Grayling and lost five Trout including a couple of Lunkers who knew exactly how to throw the hook.

Won't go again due to the physical characteristics of the beat. A young fit man would have no real problems.

A very enjoyable day catching fish in the morning on small CDC emerger patterns before moving onto Mayfly patterns as they started to hatch in the afternoon. Around 10 fish caught between us - best 2lb. Evening looked as if it would be the best time as the rise was going very well when we had to leave. A peaceful setting for a lovely stretch of river and lunchtime Wye Valley beer was in top condition.

7 x Brown Trout up 2lbs (grey wulff, light cahill)
1 x out of season Grayling 2lbs (PTN)

A slow start at first but picked up significantly in the late afternoon, early evening. A healthy hatch of Mayfly from 5pm onwards with rising fish until dusk. Top part of the beat fished particularly well, not so good further downstream.

River a bit low and the sun too high but there were hatches of fly all day including Mayflies. The trout weren't that interested in the hot sun though. I found a few in the shadows and had 2 at 12" on my rod marker, 1 at 10" and a smaller one. I also lost a slightly bigger fish which took my fly. Unfortunately I had to leave before the sun relented but there was sign of a few more rising at 6.00 when I left. Excellent and long lunch at the Bell made it a very enjoyable day.

7 fish to dry flies - between 0.5 pound to 1 pound. Flies mixture of Klinkhammers, Kites Imperial, Sedge pattern, Coachman.

An abundance of fly activity to the extent that visibility was sometimes difficult. Mayfly, dlue duns in evidence but mostly black buzzers.

Fishing very difficult in the afternoon - best between 10.30 and 2pm.

Not a particularly encouraging start , cold windy and dull.
Water very very low , very difficult to nymph so we tried, despite the lack of fish rising, tempting fish out of the margins with yellow may duns and Adams. Worked very well had about twelve fish between us, 4 about 8 inch the rest around 12. 2 of the smaller fish were grayling, the rest browns.

Stayed at the Wellington in in Brecon, clean room , ensuite, good breakfast, £46, not bad! Only problem no parking, but parked 2 minutes down the road

Fish were rising in the pool by the bridge when I arrived at about 12.30 - difficult to tell what they were taking as there were 2 kinds of olives, small paired black flies, the odd Mayfly, sedge, Turkey Brown and all manner of minute black fly and pea-green fly. Eventually started catching fish on an olive pattern and caught fish from a number of glides downstream over the course of the afternoon. Hatches came on and off so waiting game as fish responded. Best 2 fish were around the pound mark. Good and easy wading as per beat description and 2 kingfishers live there too !

As usual great service in booking - many thanks to the team
