A difficult days fishing despite almost perfect weather conditions. I was predominately looking to catch Barbel but after some 5+ hrs without a touch, feeder fishing with pellet and maggot I decided to trot a small piece of luncheon meat down the same swim which produced just one bite, a chub just under 5lbs in beautiful condition. The river definitely has a wild / natural appeal but much of it is not fishable it was also surprisingly noisy with a strong small of diesel for a good part of the day due to the farmers field irrigation pump in operation. The Foundation were excellent throughout the booking process and I definitely want to try another section some day.

The stretch had very fast water despite level having dropped. Nevertheless an enjoyable day catching a few barbel and chub.

Two rods, a hard day in perfect conditions. Just one of those days. Handful of chub and barbel, but tough going.

River conditions were excellent, 0.53mtr on the gauge at Ross so wading down the middle of the beat below the island was easy. Fished the fly, 4 patterns, through first thing and again after lunch and cast an FC across the deeper sections too. Only the Trout encountered.
A bit of judicious pruning needed to get rid of last years brambles overgrowing the concrete path section would be appreciated but I'm not sure I'll be back before next season.
