Fantastic first day back on the beat.
Superbly cleared swims.
We had 9 barble to 10lb 2oz.
Short feeding period but when they did it was all action.
cant wait till next sunday.

After my first visit to this picturesque fishery yesterday, I decided to fish a different section today. After choosing a likely looking swim and feeding quite heavily, I caught a succession of 7 barbel from around 11am to 3pm, when bites suddenly stopped. They were not big fish, and weighed from just over 4lb to just under 7lb. However, they were in perfect condition, and all fought very powerfully.

I booked here after deciding not to fish Upper Breinton, and what a stunning fishery it is. I fished the lower section, which has stunning views looking both upstream and downstream.
The water depth here is very variable from very deep pools to fast shallows.
I failed to catch anything, but it didn’t matter as it was just a pleasure to be there. I did somehow manage to miss a 3 foot twitch!

My last cast of the season with the big rod. Conditions looked perfect: a good height and good clarity. Unfortunately, there was no sign of any salmon.

A difficult day on a lovely beat. We just couldn’t locate the grayling despite deploying a variety of tactics. The occasional OOS trout and a couple of small parr at least put a slight bend in our rods !

River at .92 on the Erwood gauge. Low and clear.
With an air temp of 21 degrees, bright and sunny, I wasn’t expecting much action today.Very quiet with no sign of salmon or grayling.
