My son and I fished the beat in what I thought were good water conditions but unfortunately did not connect with a fish and only one fish showed, below the Rocks
This is the second time to fish The Rectory so hope it will become a regular beat for me.

Tried hard to tempt fish showing in a couple of pools but they seemed to be completely switched off in low water conditions. Thank you.

Beat:The Rectory Fishery

Fishing:Salmon

Having only a small chub for a long morning fishing it was off to re-charge the batteries in the Bridge Inn for a long lunch. Having discussed tactics with the other rods it was suggested to try a sunray in the gravel catch. It took four casts before the reel was screaming only to spit the fly after a airborne cartwheel. I tried again and a slightly coloured cock fish around the 10lb mark was caught and released from just above the power wires.

Fished the Rectory on both 14th and 15th. Excellent beat made all the better by hooking and landing a 13lb (32") cock salmon on a Yellow Allie at Glangwye. Fished Rectory again on 15th without contacting a fish. This was the first time to fish this beat and hopefully it won't be the last.I was ably assisted by Jonathan Morris.
Stayed at the "WYEKNOTCAFE" which I would recommend to anyone fishing this beat.

Well I certainly picked the right day with water dropping to 1ft 10ins following the last spate. First 10lb cock fish took a Willie Gun 1" tube just to the left of the big rock in the Bridge pool. Same fly for an 8lber in the Gravel Catch which took just inside the boil under the over-head cables . Both landed before 9am. Fished the Rock Pool next but no takers.
I returned to the Rock pool at 6pm and fished down with a cone-head Ally tube hooking a very acrobatic silver grilse right at the bottom but after about five minutes it decided to release itself. Fished the whole pool down again with a size 12 cross-Crathie/Silver Stoat double and 10lb cock fish followed the fly from near the big rock and took mid-stream. A fantastic experience, fully appreciated to land three salmon from three different pools on the same day.

Great day on the beat. 21lbs 8oz coloured cock fish from Tail of Rocks for my friend Gary Bright on a very sparse yellow flamethrower. Several suicidal brownies to a 1lb on the same plus a Shad on a red shrimp fly. Lovely beat, we hope to come again.
