No salmon seen - water very low. Lovely dry fly fishing at The Gravel Catch - caught a couple of nice trout before the sun came out. Plenty of flies hatching during the day, including mayflies.

2 Trout

River level up by 4” or so. Neck of Rectory into Rectory Pool fishing much better as a result. However, no fish seen, no takes.

One pull, salmon immediately jumped but not attached, at head of rectory. Nil return.

Bright sun and low water made for difficult conditions. No salmon seen all day.

4 Trout, 1 Grayling

River very low so didn't hold out much hope. I connected with something at the top of rock pool, didn't feel very big and it slipped the hook as it got near. It definitely wasn't a brown trout as I saw how silver it was and the tail shape was wrong. I'm guessing it was either a small grilse or a sea trout? It looked to be around the 3lb mark from what I saw.
Saw one decent splash at the neck of rectory pool. (WUF Note possibly an Allis shad)

Low water and bright sunshine... not the best combination.

2 Trout

Light rain lasted until 3pm but it then broke out into a beautiful evening. I saw salmon in the Mill Stream and Rectory Pool but sadly none fancied my fly. However, five dace and one chubb clearly liked a salmon double with a silver hook and a blue dressing. One dace was at least 2lbs and all of them put up a good scrap. (WUF note might have been shad?)

Another beautiful day and salmon were seen on the Mill Stream and Rectory Pool but sadly nothing hooked!
