4 Salmon Par caught. No salmon caught and all fish returned

5 Trout, 2 Grayling, 6 Chub, 4 Other

Clean grilse this morning about 4lbs from Middle Caban on 1/2" flashy stoats tail tube.

1 Salmon

Conditions appeared perfect, but sadly, no sightings and no action.

Fished the morning on the bottom of the beat - just a couple of small grayling, nothing rising.

2 Grayling

Two today, 8 and 9lbs cocks, both on fly - Bann Shrimp. Smaller fish starting to colour up, other bright.

2 Salmon, 2 Trout

4 x grayling 10-14 inches, Grayling Steel Blue etc. Various small trout and parr. Quite a while since I fished here and there was not much going on during this rather warm morning. I spent several hours teasing a few grayling at the bottom of the beat or perhaps they were teasing me. Anyway, it was very slow going. Finally fell asleep on the bank after lunch. A client did much better a few miles downstream at Erwood the following day.
Incidentally, there are huge numbers of salmon parr pestering away at the dry fly this autumn in this part of the river while we are trying to catch grayling. Some of them are quite large, presumably the result of the excellent spawning run of 2012. I should think some might be 7 or even 8 inches by the time they go to sea next spring.

4 Grayling

The river is very low and there were not many fish rising. The trout and grayling came to the nymph.

28" coloured cock fish today, size 12 Bann Shrimp. Had a rare day off work so went fishing. Can't believe I actually caught something at 7 1/2" on the gauge.

Fished bottom of beat with nymphs, have done well here before but just a couple of takes and didn't connect with anything. No rises seen.

This beat is very difficult to enter the water when the river is up. The right bank which is most of the beat is overgrown and in places blocked by fallen trees. Tried to fish from the bank no joy.
0 return. I think the landowner needs to do a little bit of gardening, not impressed.
