Third time on this lovely beat. Weather sunny and warm, river 1ft 6ins on the gauge and running clear. Fished full floating line, with 15lb leader and a Cascade. Took the fish at about 10.30am in the Bridge Pool standing on the rocks between the two sets of boards. Fish was c.12-13lb cock, and was quite coloured, good fight, no net so walked it into the bank and beached it there. Unhooked it and held it in the stream to recover; it swam off strongly. Also hooked and lost a fish in the Ferry Pool later in the day, caught two greedy trout which were also returned. Met a couple of fellow rods who were very helpful, had a good chat and learnt a bit more about the beat (local knowledge is gold dust!). All in all a very enjoyable day on superb beat.

Blank for salmon. A nice warm dull day, rise in level from 10 inches to 1ft 5 inches after rain last night; one might therefore have hoped for some action. But nothing seen or touched. I hope the other rod did better later on. On the plus side, I fished some lovely fly water. This beat, which is about as rocky and wild as the upper Wye gets, may not be easy to wade but everything possible has been done to facilitate access. The new boards are a delight.

Fantastic water which, in parts, I found very daunting. No fish but enjoyed my day.

Second visit this year and can't fault this beat. Water high but no problem with access. Took a couple of dunkings even though I had studs soles and a wadding stick. Didn't spoil the day as had three WBT 8 inch - polish nymphing with weighted black PTN on point and Red-tag on the dropper. Had plenty of misses and one that nearly pulled me, resulting in my GRHE being completely stripped.

First time visitor and although most impressed, with the ease of access to this remote but well maintained beat, the amount of water available was quite overwhelming and to be honest I came away somewhat disappointed in my lack of success. Most likely due to my limited ability to read the water and can only recommend either the use of a guide or booking into the local B+B for a week to be able to do this one justice!
As suggested by a very helpful season rod I did wade out as far as I could; to a large flat rock [beyond the rapids even], and fished above and beside the “large boulder”. The finest point from which to cast a fly that I have found in 45 years of fishing throughout the UK! [So enjoyable in fact that I fished it through for far longer than necessary].
For trout anglers; I counted 14 runs and hollows in the 50 yard section just in front of the hut while enjoying my lunch, so over 1.5 miles of available fishing that should equate to??

Fished in the morning with three out of the four being caught in the morning. Used a gold headed nymph on which I caught all of them! Did not need to change the fly and was getting bites on almost every cast. I fished the lower part of the beat and worked my way upward. Most sucsess I got was towards the lower part of the beat with only one fish being caught in the evening up the beat.
