Arrived to slightly coloured but clear water, and the prospect of a full day of raining ahead. We fished the downstream part of the beat below the bend (Chapel Catch area) and landed some nice trout to 14” and small grayling, and a surprising Twaite Shad! All on Holy Grail and Dark Knight nymphs fished Euro-style, from the channels formed in the bedrock of the river bed. However, two days rain (or they opened the floodgates in the Elan Valley) caught up with us over lunch where the river rose several inches and coloured up, full of detritus….leaves and weed on every cast. Stopped fishing! Nice morning though

Nice day fishing. Upstream runs are by far the nicest part. It's quite a long walk to get down past Llangoed pool. I expect there are good fish in the gutter below there but I couldn't find them.

Access at the top of the beat was restricted by padlocked access gate- I spoke to Alyson in the office about this.
The beat map shows a clear foot access path from the top going downstream- I could not find it as it appears to be completely overgrown? Somewhat spoiled the days fishing
