River at good fishable height and clear. WT 9C. Weather dry, sun and high cloud. AT 10C rising to 16C in afternoon. Fished from 11.30am until 4.15pm. March Brown hatches from 12.45pm - short and intense. Also olives hatching until 3.30pm. Had 8 trout with the best two @ 1lb 14oz each. Dry March Brown and Parachute Adams, Baetis nymph and Waterhen Bloa all caught fish. A very pleasant day.

Started the day with clear blue sky and rather chilly - but warming up during the morning. Intermittent cloud cover in the afternoon. Water was clear and temperature was ok, height was 0.32m on the Brecon gauge.
Lots of fish in the flats at the top end and also below the bridge. Managed to tempt two nice WBT off the top with small dry white/pale yellow may.
Got one using the "upstream/downstream" method. This is where you cast upstream and the fly lands behind you due to a very strong downstream gust of wind. Must try that again.......
Gate combi working ok.

A cold northerly front made the weather much cooler than in previous days, and there was even fresh snow on the beacons in the morning. Fortunately, there were sporadic hatches of large dark olives and march browns from 12.30 through till 2.30. Some trout came on to the rise but none would accept my artificial dries. I did manage four brown trout up to around a pound on north country spiders fished across/down in the glide below the A40 road bridge and in the riffles of the pool above the bridge. Most of the trout were caught on march brown spiders on the middle dropper, and tied with a stripped quill body, brown partridge hackle and coq de leon tail fibbets.
The combi lock on the last gate worked fine for me.

A very fishy beat. A few good hatches throughout the day and managed to take one nice trout trout (1- 1.5lb) off the top with a Klinkhammer. Had a couple of knocks to a deep nymph.

Difficulties with access to the new parking spot which was locked out. This seems to have been an ongoing problem, which urgently needs the land agent's attention. It's uncomfortable to say the least to have to reverse back down onto the A40 dual carriageway! What a pity this beat has been split into two. As for the fishing a great day was had. LDO's and flurries of March browns hatching. Eight good brownies landed and safely returned, including two 16" and one 19" fish. Saw my first swifts of 2016!
WUF Note : As at 14th April 2016, the parking issues, as far as we are aware, have been resolved.

Despite a cold SE wind there was a decent hatch of olives (and possibly some grannoms), on and off from 12.30 to 3.30. Using Klink+dink I caught one decent trout and lost another on the nymph early on, then had sporadic action with the dry fly until about 3pm, losing several (including a bigger fish which ran across a heavy run and broke me in a snag on the far side), most of which were lightly hooked. Should I have been using a deer-hair emerger (which they might have taken better), and taken off the 'dink' which may have impeded the dry fly takes?!

Cloudy with sunny spells, low and clear river. Caught and returned two trout, one 18", on nymphs from edge of fast shallow water. Olives hatching later in day, missed several and caught and returned one on dries...
