More a day for meteorologists rather than fishers. Snow drifts blocked the track in (will now be melted), 9C warm and humid, 3 types of insects hatched, rumbles of thunder, lake cold and level high. Then it got windy and cold, but Bugeilyn always delivers and 2 trout in good condition caught with a size 12 Butcher, near the bottom. Many comments on the state of the track, but a walk in is always pleasant, with fine views and lots of wildlife to observe. Takes no more than 30-40 minutes.

Well after a winter of Foxing with the .223 , and ratting with the air rifles , was nice to head off to one of my favourites , Llyn Bugeilyn . . . . . When I arrived at ten , it looked like a scene of Middle Earth !!!!! Low fog a bitterly cold wind and heavy drizzle .
Walking over the bridge between Bugeilyn and Cwm Byr , I did wonder was I about three weeks too early. Tackling up with my own versions of a Bibio and a Peter Ross on the point was time to wet a line at last !!!!!!
Working all the shore line avoiding some deep deep sink holes , I contacted with the first brownie and what a little cracker , beautiful condition , and feisty as ever ! Three more followed within the hour , then all went quiet . . . . . . .
It appears that feeding windows at Bugeilyn can be short , as I've experienced in the past . It was another two hours and various changes of flies that I had the fifth fish , again another cracker , plump and slightly bigger than the others .with the chill setting in , was pleased with five feisty brownies . I still think they were stocked by guys on a shooting party way back in the 1800 's ( sorry Dr Gunther ! )

At fivish , it was time to call it a day and make tracks back home , grappling with the track around the ruin is a feat in itself, even in a truck. The winter floods etc have taken their toll and feel gorges are now in the track around the barn complex , and the ruined Bugileyn farm house, next time , think I'll play it safe and park up by Glaslyn lake , and walk down !!!!But that said , another great few hours of peaceful solitude , and a some quality sport as well , see ya soon Bugeilyn , and warm up next time !!!!

Next week , choices choices , the Edw , Clettwr or maybe the Claerwen river , life's tough sometimes hey !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Excellent day with fish taking flies off the surface all day, even during rain and high winds in the afternoon.

Fished a 12 Adams. Fished well static or stripped through the strong wave. Missed several fish. The access road has deteriorated since I last fished here. Definitely 4x4 needed.

Headed down to this majestic Llyn early , as rain was promised later in the day !!!!! When I parked up at eight o ' clock , the wind was already gaining some momentum and creating some steady wind lanes along the Easterm shore line !!! Having had an excellent few weeks , at various waters , including the upper Wye , the Claerwen river and Claerwen reservoir , along with Nant y Moch reservoir , and some of the upper Llyns around Trisant , was nice to be back with my old friend . . . . . . . And she didn't disappoint , using my home tied offerings following patterns again in Plu Stiniog , I worked most of the Eastern shore line right down to the bottom , and managed ten lovely brownies , all released back into the steady rolling waves !!!!!! Again I thank you Emrys Evans , your patterns work wonders . . . . . . .

The wind picked up steadily around Tenish , and must have been at forty miles an hour !!!! Line control and feeling takes became nigh on impossible , so headed back down to the top end of the lake , where three of the tally violently hit my home tied offerings . . . . . .

All the brownies were in beautiful condition , and a lot seemed very plump and well fed , some quick pics were taken before slipping them back in, with the wet net . As mentioned previously by other angler , be very aware of deep holes craftily hidden amongst the bushy heather , concentrate just in front of you whilst walking and all will be well , start to look at the gorgeous surroundings , and the moorland will swallow you up !!!!!!

Happy with a bag of ten black finned brownies !!!!!!! Salmo Nigrippinis or Salmo Trutta , perhaps we'll never know , maybe those two gents from long long ago who stocked some brownies from the Rheidol are laughing at us all , especially the boffins !!!!!!!! Anyway I digress , with the wind blowing an absolute hoolie at around half one , was time to tip my hat to Bugeilyn for another season , and a great one at that , I'm sure the average size of the fish is increasing. . . . . Nice steady meander along the track to the main drag , back too the Ponderosa !!

NOTE TO WUF . . . . . Would it feasible to contact the landowner and let him know that two hundred yards either side of the farm complex ( the new one not the ruin ) the erosion of the track is awe full and with a tractor and bucket on , perhaps could level out the deep gorges being created by wash off.

A lovely day on a lovely lake. We caught plump little fish throughout the day, mainly on daddies. The trout were walloping the naturals. Beware, the bankside heather can be treacherous. There are many well concealed deep holes, walk slowly!
