Much windier than forecast which made casting difficult but there were areas of partial shelter .Both fish taken from drop-offs on the edges of shallows on black nymphs.

Opening day on the Beacons. It was damp with outbreaks of rain and drizzle, but light winds. Fish were quite active, rising to buzzer at times. Plenty of action with fish from 9 inches to 14 inches, mostly in the shallower areas at the top end.

Heavy persistent rains and strong south westerly meant ideal conditions for a few hours this morning. The Trout were feeding hard just out of casting range at one point and good sized fish as well. I hooked a Brown trout that took my dry fly and tore line of the spool powerfully a very good fish unfortunately it won the battle! I took a fish shortly afterwards again on the dry and this was a nice solid 12 inch dark brown trout and gave a good scrap in the heavy waves. Then just before I had to leave I cast to a rising fish and the fly was taken straight away by a good sized brown that gave another good scrap and this one was just over 14 inches long.

Great few hours fished from 8.30 am to 11.30 am.

Back again for a few hours this morning, unfortunately day ended up being very bright and sunny with no ripple on the water the trout put their heads down and I could not stay all day. However managed 3 small Browns all on the Dry fly and missed two takes. Not much showing but the Cdc/Elk pattern does tend to bring them up on even the quietest of days.

Buitiful location with a nice treck through the woods to the bays. Just the one small brownie to two rods with no other fish showing.

Lovely morning session ,strong south westerly and some heavy rain showers but the Browns were eager for a dry fly taking the cdc/elk sedge pattern with relish in the choppy waves created by the wind.
Had a few losses and missed a few rises but ended up with 8 nice Brown trout to just over a 1lb or so but most were 3/4 lbish.
Really enjoyable few hours.
