Was a very warm and sunny day, but managed to catch a small brown on a Peter Ross fly. Caught by the ruins where it gets deep very quickly. Also had a few bites on a silver butcher.

Most enjoyable day, mild weather light cloud/sun.
Coch-y-bounhu beetles on flight, fish only interested when the wind dropped creating a flat calm.
4 WBT on black flies and orange dries.
will return.

I fished over the Coronation Weekend Sunday and expected to find the water busy - but far from it. I had plenty of Bank to myself. It was my first visit with the only information available to me a positive promising video on YouTube. It struck I was a good time of year to try my luck as the bracken and bank based foliage was still not showing so back casting would be easy. Certainly waders are required and I tried half a dozen access points along the roadside and it was very simple wading for the most part. It was still and overcast on arrival - but few fish on the surface so I tested the waters with a beaded nymph. Long cast at 45 degs so not too far from the bank. Big hit on fifth cast. Over the next three hours, one step cast, one step cast I had half dozen fish , one just under a pound but had numerous takes that were clearly superior fish. Just before lunch I stroke gold - with a beautiful 2 pound fish but lost him in the acting landing him. It was as a good as a catch he just found freedom without the need for me to touch him. The afternoon was quieter the wind which had picked up turned direction and the sun came out. All in all a lovely piece of water. Would be great to have a boat on it… but alas. One odd thing… I saw a huge trout jump fully out of the water and to my eyes at least it booked like a rainbow, maybe someone else can reference if they have seen any rainbows present - which would be a turn up. For those who feel comfortable wading - and the mystery of wild trout water - this was a lovely day.

Nice place, fished bottom end just the one very lively trout on a diawl bach pulled through on a slow retrive. A few rises around but not enough to try the dries.

Very cold and raining. No trout came to my fly but despite it all it is a lovely place to fish.
