Very disappointed with this stretch. I walked most of the stretch and gave up looking for swims. I have fished a lot of WUF stretches and I don't expect easy swims but I felt this stretch was the worst I have visited. I didn't bother to fish and managed to book on to another stretch.
For anyone tempted by this stretch be warned the hill although short is very steep.

River was dropping but still had some flow on, fairly clear, just a few bits of weed coming down. Barbel up to 9lb 3oz on the feeder and pellet. Good average size of fish with 7lb 14oz and 3 other 5-6lbers. Most barbel came in the first meadow from the car park. Advise taking a long handled landing net and be careful on the steep banks! The Croy at the top was easier to fish and we caught some nice chub there but no barbel.

Very windy day first couple of swims no joy except small chub worked hard and found the fish, then had to move due to a wasps nest in the bank after we were both stung netting each others fish. Then moved again and found more fish all to feeder and pellet tactics. Shattered by the time we got back to the car lots of walking carrying our gear ( we traveled light ) but worth it, beautiful surroundings and great looking fish.

First visit to this beat. Parking is easy and the walk down to the river is steep but short, and the advice to travel light is sensible. There are lots of shallows with streamer weed but only one safe place to enter the river with waders that I could find which was in the upper field. This stretch has a fast run on the far side that produced most of the chub to around 4lb on trotted corn and meat in the morning. After lunch I moved around trying to find the barbel with ledger and feeder. The first few pegs in the lowest field are accessible but the flow is very slow when the water level is low. I eventually netted a lovely conditioned barbel of around 5lb from the croy peg at the top of the beat as the sun was setting. A quiet and picturesque beat with lots of kingfishers. Saw one cormorant fly over.

Very pleasant short session (3pm until dusk) on a lightly fished beat. The upstream end is really not worth bothering with as there are no fishable swims. But there are 3 or 4 reasonable but challenging swims in the bottom field. Tried two of them and the very bottom one produced a barbel of about 7 lb. I suspect this is a beat that fishes better in higher water conditions.

Waded out in the top section had one trotting bread on the top. Had 3 trotting pellet in the deeper parts on the far bank and 1 feeder fishing pellet and 1 feeder fishing with pellet on the last swim. See why it says winter fishing in the description a lot of nettles and hard to get down to the river

Couldn't fish it because 1) Banks too steep and dangerous in places, 2) no attempt by Wye & Usk or land owner to cut out any swims, 3) Due to the very hot weather Streamer weed on the nearside bank made fishing impossible even if you could find some where to fish. I recommend that this stretch be ignored until some effort is made to make it worthwhile

River was very low and clear . Chub tempted at each end of the beat .
Very steep banks that would be impossible to get down if they was wet but efforts have been made to make them as accessible as possible .
A lovely days fishing
